How does the Emerson DVD players rate? (1 Viewer)

I just got got an Emerson DVD player to have in my room. The movies look real good on my 27 inch Sony, alot better than the PS2 did. I noticed while reading the booklet that the player doesn't support DTS though, which doesn't bother me for now, because I don't have a home theater setup in my room. So is it a good cheaper end player? I'm not trying to impress anyone, I just got it to watch stuff in my room when the TV in the living room is being used.

The only problem I tend to find with lower-end units as such is their inability to play DVD-R. If you are not going to play writeable medias at all, I don't see any problem coming your way other than the life expecteancy of the unit. Mine (not Emerson, but similar low-end players) tend to die on me after 4 months of usage.
