I am looking into setting up a home theatre, I am looking at a 5.1 system. I would use it for watching films 80% of the time and 20% for music. :D
I've been looking around at receivers and speakers and TV's this is what I would be happy to spend and a kind of rough budget.
$
AV Receiver 600-700
Media Player 1080p 130
Centre 150-200
Front 600
Rear 200
Subwoofer 350-400
TV 60" Sharp LC-60E88UN 1500
This is the list of speakers etc. I have been looking at, the Polk speakers seem very good for their price should I stick to the one brand or mix them up.
I also priced them to spend more money on the front and subwoofer but should i get the same floorstanding speakers for the rear?
The receiver I could get a cheaper one as i dont think i need one that expensive for now but I would rather spend good money on it now rather than upgrading it in the future.
Any other suggestions, questions or ideas please comment.

I would match my 3 front speakers. Some would say to match them all 5 or 7, but I'd definately do that. Your want your timbre to be even. With those monitor 70's I'd look at this speaker for the center. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882290212
Also, your viewing area, where will it be? Are you completely sold on an LCD or would you consider other options (Plasma, etc).
I think you'll like those Monitor 70's. Sub option looks good. On your receiver, if you are going to drop 600, don't get that Pioneer...look at the Pioneer Elite lines. Much better quality, IMO.
As far as cables go, you running everything in wall? I order from monoprice.com and summitsource.com I'm in the middle of doing a new home theatre at a house I'm moving into, and I ordered all my wiring, plates, etc from those two websites. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the replies
Yes thought that as well the timber matching would look a lot better.
I would consider other options as plasma as it works out slightly cheaper and for the price, and for that price you would get deeper blacks on the plasma screen. I kind of have my mind set on a 60" as well so if anyone has any suggestions for which one would be best to go for.
Also the receiver i understand it would be better to go for the Pioneer Elite, but Pioneer is what I should aim for, or should I look into other brands.
I will also look into monoprice.com

I'm not saying Pioneer Elite is the only one you should look at, but if you're going to drop 600 bucks on a Pioneer Receiver, just look into their Elite stuff. Better quality than their normal retail products and many more bells and whistles. More durable too.
Panasonic makes several 60 inch models and a few 65 that are Plasma, and the ones the last few years are nice. Much lighter too and better on power consumption.
Other guys here really like Onkyo and Yamaha's higher end stuff, and you should easily be under 4K

Whatever receiver you decide on, remember not to overspend. Spend your money wisely - It is the speakers that make the sound. Same advice goes for cables...

Since it's not my money...do a google search for Pioneer Elite SC-55. They are down to 999 now (new models coming out) and that thing is a freaking beast. For just 275 more I'd go that route on the receiver.
I like the decision on the speakers. That's essentially what I have and I love them (I have the CS 20).
Are you running your wiring in wall? I think what you have looks good, but I'd look at that Elite SC-55
Sidenote: You might want to look at the Polk Monitor 70's when comparing them to the TSi500. Those are chepaer at Newegg.
Thread on that comparison http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?88600-TSi500-vs.-Monitor-70
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882290209 Saves you 300 (you could put towards the SC-55....again, I'm just spending you money :) )
And they were 199 last week. Watch for sales
