I have a RCA home Theater System and a 60" HD Mitsubishi TV. I can not get the surround sound to work unless we are watching a dvd. I want it on the tv channels, how can I do this?

It depends on how you get your TV signal. (It would help a lot if you provided model numbers.) But in general, if you get your TV signal from a box of some sort (cable or over-the-air digital converter), then connect that to the RCA instead of the TV. If you connect you signal directly to the TV, then you need to run an audio cable (probably optical) from the TV to the RCA. In this case you will not get surround, you'll only get stereo.
