Home Theater Popcorn Machine - Post Yours

    Ordered my popcorn machine and just received it. I previously had a paramount popcorn machine (built in china) and the difference is insane. Just my 2 cents, I would recommend getting a machine made in the USA. I Know of 2:



    Heres some photos of my new machine. Anyone else have photos of theirs they can post?

    I like Newman's comments about smuggling stuff into the movie theater. Like a greasy bag of popcorn.

    But still..you guys need to try that Smartfood brand. It's awesome popcorn for pre-popped.

    I like the brand. I have some Newman's Own in the fridge. I have to see if Asda has Newman's Own popcorn?

    No, no.
    Asda doesn't do it.
    ebaY, does but the price made me almost fall out the seat at £59.00.

    Air popper or a paper bag. The air popper tends to make the popped corn a bit dry-a paper bag leaves it more moist, which can aid spice adhesion.

    I've also found a mortar and pestal for finely grinding ingredients useful.

    Try these:
    LEMON AND PEPPER
    4 quarts freshly popped corn
    1/2 tablespoon of lemon zest
    1/4 teaspoon of salt
    2 teaspoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice.
    2 tablespoons of olive oil
    Combine the dry ingredients, toss them in the bag with the popcorn and shake. Wisk the lemon juice and oil together, add to the mixture in the bag and shake somemore. Empty and serve.

    Green Tea and Sea Salt
    4 quarts freshly popped corn
    1 tablespoon of green tea leaves, ground in something (like the mortar and pestal)
    1 teaspoon of lemon zest
    1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger
    1 1/2 teaspoons of sea salt.
    3 tablespoons of canola oil.
    Make like above

    Sugar and Spice
    4 quarts freshly popped corn
    1 vanilla bean
    2 teaspoons of sugar
    1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
    1/4 teaspoon of grated nutmeg
    1 tablespoon of canola oil
    1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
    Mix the dry ingredients. scrape out the vanilla bean and mix it with a wisk in a separate bowl. Mix and shake the dry ingedients in the bag with the popped corn. Shake. Then mix the oil and vanilla mix in the bag with everything and shake more. Serve.

    I'm working on Pizza Corn. So far, it's been a soggy by tasty flop. I think I'll have to dry the tomatoes and spices I use (they're grown out back) and pulverize them before I add and bake everything.


    The first three are from "Popcorn", by Patrick Evans-Hylton. You can find it on Amazon.

    While I like popcorn out of a machine, I'm not sure about the additives. I still get the big bucket when I actually go to the movies though.

    I own a very nice Gold Medal 2085 6 oz Popcorn Popper, bought it used about 3 years ago from a local newspaper ad, for just $100 - which was a steal, when they sell between $500 and $600 new... the previous owner had bought it to use at their community Lion's Club meetings, but they used it only once and then he passed away, so the wife decided to sell it after it had been in storage a couple years. It was just like brand spanking new when I got it from her.

    I use a white kernel popcorn (instead of the more common yellow) that comes from a local popcorn plant only 5 miles from my house, coconut oil, and Flavacol, and everyone at my Monthly Movie Nights raves about it. It's nice to make guests happy!

    Smartfood has several new flavors. (new to my walmart anyway) Kettle Corn, Cinnamon & Sugar, Movie Theater butter... The butter one needs a slight bit of improvement for my taste, the other 2 are excellent. yum yum!

    The one I own is above and I made a video of it. This one is pretty hard core, as it's built to last by Cretors.

    That being said Paragon is a good choice also.
