I am trying to get some pictures and dimensions for this tv that is supposed to come out in the 3rd quarter.

They are supposed to be slimmer this year. Do a Yahoo search on this model number for detail....I am just looking for more detail.

Can somebody post stuff on all the new Hitachi sets? I was thinking about buying a S500, maybe I'll hold off. Hm....

EDIT: NVM, I am reading their press release.

So when will we start seeing these tvs in the showroom floor?

Have any specifics about the s715 sets that's not mentioned in the official Hitachi press release?

Any idea when these sets will be rolling into stores?

I'm primarily interested in the 57s715.

Thanks for the measurements Miles. I guess that is about 3 or 4 inches slimmer than previous models....which is an improvement. I can't wait to check one out......

Finally there is a picture of the new cabinet....someone has posted it in a thread at AVS forum.....looks nice....would be better with all black screen surround but, even on the top there is a thin black strip.

They are supposed to appear within a month...hope so:) :emoji_thumbsup:

Somebody over at HomeTheatherSpot posted a pic of the cabinet of the new F series.

The new S series looks really sleek but I dont like the new F. It looks cheap. Like something APEX would come up with.

MSRP on the 51S715 is only $2199. Seems you can't even get the 51S700 online for that price. Does anyone know what the MSRP on the 51S700 was?

Also, when will the S715 series show up in stores and what stores will they show up in?

Found it! MSRP of the 51S700 is $3399.

So, lemme get this straight...

The new 51S715 model is:
- 4" thinner
- Adds CableCard support
- More powerful built in speakers (40W instead of 24W)
- 4:3 Expanded Mode for all TV signals.
- New Super-Contrast II 5 Element lens system

So, you get all these improvements for about 65% of the cost of last years model ($1200 less). Sounds too good to be true.

From my comparisons, the 51S715 loses the following items from the 51S700.

- Firewire (IEE1394/5C) support/capability
- 1 Antenna input
- Photo Memory Card Universal Slot
- 540p support
- 50lbs of weight

Of the missing items, removing Firewire seems like a big ommission. I was really excited about this set and was ready to pull the trigger as soon as these showed up in stores, now with the ommission of the firewire capability, I'm much less excited and hesitant.
