Dave,
Does your Mitsu have a DVI input? If so, you can run an HDMI cable out of your DVR into an HDMI/DVI adapter and then plug into your TV.

Researching 1080p HD projector to use with a 110" - 120" Stewart Film Screen, max. cost $5K.

BenQ W20000 front projector
PS3 for blu-ray
Toshiba HD A2 for HD DVD (I have A35 also, but not using it until I have an HDMI capable receiver for the new codecs. I tried using the analog connections, but my pre/pro doesn't have bass management and to me the optical sounds better when the A2 sends everything out DTS.)

I'm in the same boat as Mike above - I have an HD 34" Sony CRT direct-view (34XBR910). Never really think of it as in the same camp as rear-projection though technically, I suppose it is.

I wouldn't call direct-view CRT rear-projection even "technically". No image is being projected in a DV CRT. A beam of electrons is fired from the back of the tube, but the image is created on the inside of the glass, when the electrons strike and excite the phosphors found there. Projection always involves throwing an image onto a screen optically.

Joe

Say it ain't so, Joe...

Doug and I (and all the other "old schoolers" who really like having big, fat two-ton TVs) have no other option!

Right, Mike. "Old school!" Love the fine-tooth-comb picture (nice blacks, crystal clear even on pans, and no burn-ins even after falling asleep with a menu displayed, more than once!).

Besides, couldn't budge it if I wanted to replace it anyway.

"Technically" those electrons are projecting from the rear - but yeah, Joe, I chose none of the above by abstaining from the options given.

I've been wading in to the HD game here and there since 2007.

I started with my ps3 for Blu-Ray's and gaming. I've also added an Xbox 360 to compleemnt the PS3, upgraded my crappy Toshiba tube HDTV to a Sony Bravia LCD, and just yesterday received my order for a new Yamaha RX-V456 receiver. The last thing that's left is for me to get an extra HDMI cable to take advantage of the new high-resolution audio formats my receiver can do.

Unfortunately, the ps3 is incapable of outputting these new formats through Toslink.

After one simple cable, I'll be pretty much HD in my theater set-up.

I recently added an HL61A750 (Samsung 61" LED DLP).
Now if I could just afford a blu ray player, I'd be set.

My hidef setup consists of a Samsung LN-T4681F LED/LCD, Toshiba A30 HDDVD and PS3. I get my Hidef audio via a Denon 4806CI and the sound is amazing coming out of my Paradigm Studio setup.
