I'm looking at getting a new sub. Large room, want rich but not pounding sound. Current setup: Receiver: VX-571 Front: Polk Monitor 30 Center Polk CS1 Surround: Sony B1000 Sub: Sony Generic HTIB I think the best upgrade right now is the old sub. I can only fit about 14-14.5" width though Here is what I am looking at Velodyne VX-11 ($150) Velodyne Starfire 10 (used) ML Dynamo 300 ($130) JBL ES150p ($160) Mordaunt Short Carnival 9 ($170) What does everyone think? Thanks!

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882780078&Tpk=rw-12d Can you stretch your budget a bit? Usually anything under $250 isn't really worth getting.

Not really - I would prefer the rattling in my ears to come from something other than my wife I can probably squeeze a F12 in, widthwize, but the depth would put it right up against my wall which is a no-no because of the rear port, right?

I'd like to know where(unless they are all used) you are coming up with some of those prices. The A4L deal on the Carnival 9 is hard to pass up...especially with free shipping. I'd take that over a BIC V1020, any day.

Frigid cold here but I set up the new sub anyway because I had it delivered to a Kinkos. She looks and sounds like a beaut! Item came packaged just in its box from A4L. Fedex dosn't seem to have damaged it at all. I would call the color of the wood to be a cherry. It feels rock solid to the touch, although the legs are plastic. It took about 4 days to arrive here from Florida. The sound is nice- you know the bass is there, but it doesn't feel overdone or overwhelmed. Here are some pics

Thanks for the update. I pulled the trigger on one of these too for the bedroom home thester im trying to assemble. Since I havent purchased the satellites yet for that project I hooked it up with my Cambridge model 6's in.the interim. Not bad!! So far. The $ 170 price shipped is a perfect price point. ..this might even be too much ooomph for the bedroom :)
