Yeah, yeah I know...already tried the "just buy a new 'puter" route...
Anyway, my niece was short sighted when she bought her Asus to use in college. The school offered 9 different laptops and she chose this tiny little eeePC that didn't have HDMI. Granted, when she bought it, only two of the 9 had HDMI anyway...
Anybody have experience with these things?

No, not necessarily that one. Any of them. Basically she was given a new-ish 24" monitor and it doesn't have VGA. Simplest route, if they work, would be one of those.
