Help please new tv to old receiver (1 Viewer)

Hi I'm useless when it come to this so heres what i need help with i trying to find the best way to connect my tv LG 55LS5700 witch I just purchased to my Sony str-k840p receiver. Any help would be wonderful thank you or should I update the receiver if so any suggestions on what to get would be also great thanx

Then configure your PS3 HDMI to the TV and digital toslink to the Sony.

The ps3 is fine that's not what I'm asking it runs to the tv through a hdmi cable , its the rest I'm unsure of what would be the best cable from the tv to the Sony str-k840p for audio as it doesn't have hdmi what's digital toslink ?

If you want 5.1 you need to run the audio straight off the PS3 to the Sony, period.
If all you want is 2.0 PCM, run the digital toslink from the TV to the Sony.
