I'll bite at $90 or less, which I'm sure what Amazon will have it at.

Now with this almost out of the way, can we start anticipating Apocalypse Now? :)

I'm now able to speak a bit on the subject of The Godfather(s).

All restoration work was performed at 4k and 6k.

The data path through the entire system of WB's MPI facility never fell below 4k.

The HD master was created from the fully restored 4k data files.

The direction given from day one by both Mr. Coppola as well as Mr. Willis was that grain structure remain inviolable.

We did not tamper with or change the grain structure in any way, with the exception of bringing dupes into line with the look of the originals. This is transparent to the restoration.

Hope this is helpful.

Mine.

Mr. Harris - could you detail the work done to remaster Part III? I recall the DVD having serious issues about 2/3rds into the film.

Thanks.

Not only mono tracks, but mono tracks going all the way back to the original DMEs.

Paramount has done everything possible to make this a very special release.

With perhaps even more action-packed shots of Mr. Harris spooling film than in the AMC documentary on Vertigo. :) Seriously, though, I am really looking forward to the Blu-Ray release. Everything about it sounds like exactly what I would want to see (and hear), including the added supplements.

You may be joking, but at a certain point Jim Katz and I had to refuse further footage of running film on rewinds and splicing.

Gets old.

DMEs are what are called three-stripe mags, 35mm fullcoat magnetic film which carries, on separate tracks, the dialogue, music and effects.

As I posted my comment, I was recalling when you joked in this forum or another one that you and Jim Katz had proposed that the AMC folks hire someone like Sandra Bullock to rewind the film as it would make the footage more visually interesting. :)

Wow. Very impressive. Cannot wait! Godfather I and II are on my top ten all-time favorite films.
