I acquired three Denon 2802 Receivers yesterday. They work fine and all three have working remotes. The first to will receive owners manuals as I only have two. Buyer will pay shipping from zip 78660 via DHL Ground. If they are not sold by end of business 12/17/2004 they will be put up for sale on ebay. I'm asking $285.00 and this price is firm. For details please vist... http://www.usa.denon.com/catalog/pdfs/AVR28023final.pdf

These are 90W channels, which is good, but how would you compare this 2002 denon to a new 1705 (2005)? Do I have to worry about how old it is?

Looking to replace my parents harman kardon avr120 with something under $400....

The product is in perfect working order. I will let someone else answer about the quality vs. the new model.

When it comes to processing power, the new AVR-1705 isn't quite up to the level of the AVR-2802. About the only thing your giving up by going with the 2802 is Dolby Pro Logic IIx. If you plan on running a 5.1 system, these are still great receivers.

Personally, if I was looking at the new Denon line, I'd go with either the AVR-2805 or AVR-3805 because of the built-in EQs and system calibration methods. Without these features, the newer, lower-level Denons don't offer you a whole lot.
