Updated.

They're all great, especially La Belle Noiseuse (unless you'd be offended by copious Emmanuelle Beart nudity...)

Some films here I want to see: Code Unknown, Zero for Conduct.

Yeah, I'll also take another contemporary entry to make it more interesting --- second Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie, The Piano Teacher and The Rules of the Game.

Steve, et. al.—a quick note to apologize, but I’ll not be able to participate in the nomination process as much as I might like.

We are in the midst of packing and moving—so between the movers, the cats and taking care of all of our last minute minutiae barely have enough time so scan the recent posts.

Things may return to normal in a week or two.

I'll 2nd Vagabond

I'll nominate

Perceval Le Gallois
Humanite
On The Run: The Trilogy - Lucas Belvaux
Red Lights

The last 2 years have been very strong for French cinema. Lots of really, really good movies. 3-4 of my top 10 from last year are French and I haven't even seen stuff like A Very Long Engagement, Triple Agent, or Godard's last two which have been well regarded.

While I love French films, my knowledge is very limited compared to many of you here. However, I'd like to nominate the following (and vote down the line if by chance there are any matchups I've seen):

Nominate:

Three Colors: Red
Le Trou
Purple Noon
La Séparation

I'll 2nd

Rosetta (though I thought Rosetta was Belgian? as in "The Sprouts", "Let's not call them anything, let's just ignore them" or my favorite "I couldn't think of anything more derogatory than Belgian")
