Thanks Geoff,

I didn't do any correction to the SPL meter. Not really sure what you mean by that anyhow.

20 hz doesn't have any output that I can measure. At 25 hz it's around 71 db.

Right now the sub is directed away from the back wall. I can turn it so it points to the right wall and take measurements again.

So from the information I'm providing, you think I can tune this to get pretty good performance from the DLS 10 and my small room? If so, I'm open to suggestions. Is the BFD the only device or are there other para eq's?

Thanks so much for your help.

Morlan,

I think he means this.....add number to what your SPL reading is.

If the flatest Fr is to be found Experiment with placement to try and get a flatter FR=fequency response across the board (if) that is prefered to more/better extension.

You'll get more free room gain down low and excite the most freqs/modes when the sub is corner loaded.

I'd start in a front corner and then move the sub from their. Your room size & shape is going to make getting a somewhat flat FR pretty tuff. A location somewhere on a side wall "might" get you the flatest non eq-ed FR, but will cost you output/spl and extension.
The little DLS will not be seeing nearly as much free gain when placed their.

JMO
I'd just corner load it in the one corner that gives me the most extension/spl down deep at the listening postion.
Then add a pari when you want or can afford it, to clean up the FR...

JMO
If more deeper/output is desired than the best FR corner loaded DLS spot can produce for you, then build a sub.
A pari is more than likely going to be needed to get a decently flat FR, or a (slight house curve that many like to run), regardless of the sub used in your small room...

It can many times take hours, days, even longer to find the best spot for a sub woofer. You must measure each sub location change to see just what is happening in the new spot.
It can be quick and easy in some rooms and others are just nightmares to get a decent FR. Add muultipul subs and locate them in different spots and it just gets even tuffer...

It's nearly always best to just start in a front corner and work from their, in a HT setup anyway. Most times trade offs have to be made, flatter FR or better extension and spl when no eq is in place and the sub has some limitations.

Hey, no one said it would be easy.

Measure and experiment with the subs placement is all I can tell you. Don't forge the phase of the sub also.

If you'll take the time you should find a spot that dose at least a better job than (it's current location). This assuming you will move the sub at least to measure to see the diferences..

Cheers
Geoff
