I just picked up NBA2K3. Thought I'd let all of you high-end TV owners know that it is in 720p, according to the box.
Too bad my WEGA won't upconvert to 1080i. :frowning:
Street Hoops was also in 720p, but it sucked, IMHO. I'm confident that NBA2K3 will be better.

I agree. 720P in nba2k3 is a great move on sega's part. I really hope all titles migrate to 720P or 1080i.

I've got a Mits 65819. The manual doesn't say that it supports 720p. So will NBA 2K3 just be in 480p on my TV?

Thanks for the heads up Chris. Looks like I've got another game to get this week, I was originally gonna hold off getting NBA2K3, but if it's in HD, I can't wait.

That's the way it is on my TV. You can test it out by telling your XBox Dashboard that your TV supports 720p. If your TV won't support it, you'll see nothing.

When I did this for Street Hoops, I didn't get 720p, but I did get 480p. I assume 2k3 will be the same.

Man, I can't wait to get home to try this.

It's true, 720p, tested and verified. This game looks a lot better than Street Hoops and is a lot more fun to play as well. Unlike Street Hoops that went into 720p after the dashboard, NBA 2K3 goes into 720p after the ESPN introduction.

I also have a Mits and cannot do 720p. However, it will upconvert to 960i. Can anyone tell me how good that looks?

Picked this up today and after the ESPN intro my screen gets lines going across and you can't see the menus.. Guess my Mits 65819 doesn't support 720p??

is the Xbox that does the conversion? If it sees that a source is 720p, will it convert it to 1080i before outputting it? Hmmm. need to research...

I'd also like to know about the 960i or 1080i on mitsubishi. I have the 46" and had 720p turned on and it wouldn't run so I turned it off. I'm not sure if its running in 480p or not. One other question. In my Mits' menus it has a choice of either 480p or 960i. Which should I hate it on? Another confusion is on the front of my actual set it ssys 1080i.

After reading a bit about this I am pretty sure that unless your TV either supports 720p natively or ACCEPTS the 720p signal and upconverts it to 1080i for example it will not work (you'll have to disable 720p and run it at 480p). A little dissapointing as I would have loved to see it running @ 720p on my Pioneer Elite. Ah well!

Anyone (who can't run 720p) notice the ODD thing in the manual? They say that to run 480p you must press and hold A, B, X, and Y at the "XBox Screen" after inserting the disc, and they say "YES" to load it in 480p mode at the screen which supposedly comes up.

The thing is, I can't get this "confirmation screen" to come up, no matter what I do. My dashboard has 480p enabled, but I never get this confirmation screen.

Anyone notice this? Anybody got any ideas?

I may create a new post about this.

Thanks Romar,
I hope this is the case, and I suspect it is . . . simply because nothing is require to go to 720p mode.

I wonder why they put that in the manual?

Your Toshiba 50H82, as far as I know, does not do it natively. Sorry. It has one scanning rate (540p/1080i), it's part of the reason Toshiba upconverts all signals to 540p, to only have one scanning rate. Your set wlil take the 720p and "upconvert" it to 1080i. No native for you, or I. Sorry to say this because I've been researching that set (going to get the 57HDX82) and I've found it won't.

Peter, can you tell me how NBA2K3 looks like on your Toshiba set? I am planning on getting either the same one you have or the 42H82 but would like to know how does 720p looks upconverted to 1080i
And how about all the other 480p games for Xbox, how do they look in 540p??
Thank you

Jose

Only Mits sets with integrated tuners will upconvert 720p to 1080i, and then only on digital input I believe. All 480i is upconverted to 480p or 960i (not very well either for video material).

You should use 480p unless you can see visible scan line structure from viewing position, then switch to 960i. Mits' line doubler is pretty bad for video. I'm contemplating adding an Iscan external deinterlacer.
