Yep, I'd forgotten that. I passed on that set since I only want Teahouse, and have been waiting for an individual release.

The Abyss (anamorphic)
The African Queen
Arachnophobia (OAR)
Dark City (waiting impatiently)
The Three Stooges (2000 biopic)

What few VHS I have left. I'm sure I have more wishes lurking somewhere though. Personally, 2007 was a great year for my collection, and I'd like that to continue naturally. :)

EDIT: I meant that in regards to the forecasted slowdown in SD releases that hasn't happened, yet.

I ended 2007 with only 2 titles left on my wish list: Lost Highway and a SE of Tootsie. After years of feeling incomplete and impatient (especially WRT Lost Highway), they are both scheduled to be released by the end of March. What will I do then? After wanting those discs for so long, to finally have them will probably be anti-climactic at best. It could be that I will finally know the truth of Mr. Spock's wise words, "Having is not so pleasing a thing as wanting. It is not logical but it is often true."

I suppose I can now finally focus my attention on the early films of John Waters that are not yet available on DVD: Eat Your Make-Up, Hag in a Black Leather Jacket, Roman Candles, Mondo Trasho and Multiple Maniacs. I've heard rumblings (from John Waters himself) that some of these may be coming but I'm sure the music clearances are a nightmare.

Also, I will keep a candle burning for a remastered, anamorphic version of the Original, Unaltered Star Wars trilogy (the only way George Lucas will ever get another Star Wars-related dollar out of me) but I won't hold my breath.

It looks as if Criterion has THE FURIES on its 08 slate. I've also read that FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE, RODAN, and WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS are due from various companies.

Mine are few:

What's so Bad About Feeling Good? (with Mary Tyler Moore and George Peppard). One of the Universal comedies from the mid-sixties

The Old Dark House 1963. The Tom Poston Version. Many critics hate it, but I like it. I think it has to do with the fact I saw it as a kid. . .and I loved the fact that it was a horror/comedy and the big surprize about the killer's identity.

Disney's Dr. Syn: Alias the Scarecrow. It was supposed to be out years ago. Hasn't

The Adventures of Horace: Prince of the Sun. A Japanese sixties film, which has gone up in prestiege since it's been shown, but hasn't come to DVD in the United States. I liked it.

A couple of tv movies:
Murder Can Hurt You. A late seventies tv movie (right before VCR's came along) that had a great many impressionists doing their take on Columbo, McCloud, Starsky and Hutch, etc. Stupid but fun.

Just sentimental favorites.

Sincerely

James Smith

My film list is small, in my Sig.

I hear that "Invisible Stripes" (1939 / Bogey, Raft, W. Holden, Jane Bryan) will be included in a future WB Gangster Collection.

Andy Hardy Movie Series
Blondie Movie Series
The Brass Bottle
Charley Varrick (Wide Screen, please Universal?)

In addition to quite a few that's already been mentioned I want to add "The Magic Box" with Robert Donat, "Welcome Stranger" with Bing Crosby, more Deanna Durbin & The Little Rascals shorts (I still can't believe the state of Laurel and Hardy on DVD!) and too many others to list. I saw a few on these lists that's already been released..

I have a long list, but, oddly enough, many positions in it are occupied by one and the same movie:

JOHNNY GUITAR

;)

Other than that, give me a decent release of "The Great Waldo Pepper" and "The Road to Wellville".
