HTF faithful, I need your help.

I'm wanting to compile a mix CD of my favorite Christmas tunes but would like to supplement it with classic sound bites from holiday films.

Although I'm savvy to most of the perennials, I'd welcome your suggestions no matter how familiar they may be to me; it'd also serve as a refresher as well as pointing me in the direction of some Christmas movies I've never seen before.

    Much thanks in advance,

    Jeffrey

From ITS A WONDERFUL LIFE...most people would
choose "Every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings"...
but my pals and I prefer instead:

    "Zuzu's petals!!!"

The best Xmas song, by far, is "Christmas is the Time to Say I Love You" by Billy Squier.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is filled with great one-liners.

    It's a Wonderful Life:
"That's what I get for praying" or any of the sequence with George running through the town at the end.

I've always enjoyed Clark's rant near the end of "Christmas Vacation" and the "I dare ya" dialogue in "A Christmas Story."

Okay, these aren't traditional quotes, but they are from some of my favorite Christmas movies:

"Yippie-Ki-Yay, Motherfucker!"-Bruce Willis in "Die Hard"

"Have you ever met anybody you didn't kill?"
"I haven't killed you yet"-Danny Glover and Mel Gibson in "Lethal Weapon"

"The bitch hit me with a toaster!"-Bill Murray in "Scrooged"

"Don't feed them after midnight!"-Recurring line by various characters in "Gremlins"

    Favorite Christmas songs:

"Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" by Judy Garland

    "Christmas In Hollis" by Run-DMC

"Christmas At Ground Zero" by "Weird" Al Yankovic

"Jingle Bell Rock" by either Bobby Helms or Hall & Oates

    Sincerely,

    John Kilduff...

Probably the only person who likes both Judy Garland and Run-DMC.

I like Judy Garland and Run-DMC. You lost me with the Hall and Oates greenlight on "Jingle Bell Rock," though.

As far as Christmas line exchanges, my friends and I can't watch the scene in "Muppet Christmas Carol" where Tiny Tim starts exclaiming (I'm paraphrasing): "Oh, Peter, the goose! The goose!--*cough*hack*" and Miss Piggy says, "Oh, Tim, you've gotten too excited" without breaking into fits of laughter.

Other quotes that are heard around my house quite often are:

"You're nothing but a scurvy little spider (and that goes for you, too!)" from "It's a Wonderful Life,"

"There is one! There is one!" (referring to a much-desired swing) from "Miracle on 34th Street,"

and "I like 'The Wizard of Oz.'"
    --"Yeah."
--"I like the Tin Man." from "Christmas Story"

Actually, Ben, it's not Hall & Oates' cover I like so much as the video for said song, which is delightfully cheesy. Someone on an 80s site said that the video was reminiscent of a Bob Hope Christmas special. It's that level of cheese and camp only some people can enjoy. That's not your thing, and that's cool. I just love cheesy stuff.

    Sincerely,

    John Kilduff...

With all the usage of the words "cheese" and "cheesy", I must sound like a representative of a dairy council.

Check out Dawn Davenport's Christmas rant in Female Trouble:

Dawn discovers the shoe box under the Xmas tree does not contain cha cha heels
    Dawn Davenport: WHAT are THESE?
Mrs. Davenport: Those are your new shoes, Dawn!
Dawn Davenport: Those aren't the right kind, I told you cha cha heels, black ones!
Mr. Davenport: Nice girls don't wear cha cha heels!
Dawn Davenport: Gimmie those presents, I'll never wear those ugly shoes! I told you the kind I wanted! You ruined my Christmas!
    [stomps the Xmas presents]
Mrs. Davenport: Please, Dawn! Not on Christmas!
Dawn Davenport: Get off me, you ugly witch!
[pushes mother into the Xmas tree]
Mr. Davenport: Dawn Davenport, are you crazy, look at your mother!
Dawn Davenport: Get off me... LAY OFF ME! I hate you, fuck you! Fuck you both, you awful people! You're not my parents! I hate you, I hate this house, and I hate Christmas!
Mrs. Davenport: Not on Christmas! Not on Christmas!

Time Life Classics released a 4-CD set of christmas favorites. All audio tracks are from original masters and all versions of songs are by the original artists that made them famous...not cheezy gag-me re-makes.

I was able to make a 90min Christmas Favorites tape with just about *every* song I ever wanted sourced from the 4-CDs in this one set.

The fifth CD I'd put in the CD changer would be the Charlie Brown Christmas!!!

"It's called the quart of blood technique. You hit him and a quart of blood comes out"-Eddie Murphy in "Trading Places"

I know that isn't the quote verbatim, but it's the gist of it.
