The first episode tonight was so-so, but the live special and the "Hannah Banana" episode were both really funny. I had very low expectations for the live special especially, but was actually pretty impressed.

Agreed on all three points. My favorite part of Hannah Banana was Brian's, "I'm 8" line. I'm glad this show can still make me laugh.

Family Guy has made a nice rebound as of late.

The show got a bit stale last season but I have
found myself laughing a lot more often these days.

Loved the joke about Peter teaching the Parrot
to say "cripple."

One thing that bothered me was the blatant
promotion for Windows 7. Oh, I don't mind that
there was a brief commercial for Win7 featuring
Peter Griffin -- but I am almost positive that
they took a nice swipe at the Mac platform this
week with the joke concerning the spinning
beach ball. Many people probably did not get
that joke -- I didn't at first -- but that spinning
color wheel is equivalent to the sand dial on
Windows that indicates the system is trying
to load.

As a Mac user I wasn't too pleased with the
joke, but hey -- everyone gets made fun of
on Family Guy.

I did like Quagmire's chewing out of Brian. About time he got called on some of his smugness.

Amen to that. That was a tour de force speech, filed under the "epic win" folder. I'll never look at Brian or "The Catcher in the Rye" the same way again.

Albert, it didn't.

Fox very smartly made this a DVD/BD exclusive.

It's not so much exclusive, as it is just being released on disc far ahead of the television airing. It was originally going to be aired as the season 7 finale, but has since been pushed to season 8.

I guess it doesn't matter in terms of seasons since they release sets not as seasons and leave off episodes like this. That said, I would like to see it on tv. I am not going to buy a disc with 2 episodes. I didn't buy the first one either. Maybe, possibly a one disc trilogy which shoudl cost the same price would be worth it down the road.

Albert,

I agree with you. However, I can see Fox easily looking
at this as a double-dip opportunity. People that want to see
this very special episode prior to the TV airing (thanks for
making me aware of that) are going to purchase the DVD or
Blu-ray. Count me in as one of them.

So, I don't know if we are still in Season 8 or not. Hasn't
been any FG discussion here since December.

Was this past week's episode any good? I know it was
a 1-hour Family Guy but I turned it off after 10 minutes.

Seemed like it was going to be an entire episode with
Stewie and Brian locked in a bank vault. Ugh! Then
there were jokes about licking poop that prompted me
to say...."enough."

I have it on my Tivo but unless one of you says it
is worth watching I am going to delete it.

Naw, you were wise to skip it - the poop eating was the best part of the episode. Wow, what a total dud.

I have really started to lose interest in FG. I loved it in the beginning, but it has become just a Seth soapbox. Not necesarily this last episode, but in general. This last episode was just too over the top. That is saying a lot. It felt like Seth is just making these for himself and he doesn't give a darn about making a show anymore.

I am sorry to say that I think that it is time for this show to end. It is actually beating the Simpsons in the ratings, so I guess we will be stuck with it until Seth finally pisses off the wrong group and FOX pulls the plug.

I know people are dropping this show, but did anyone see it this weekend (May 9th). I finally laughed again at a Family Guy episode... and I laughed hard in some spots. It seemed different than Seth's normal MO, almost the opposite. But it worked for me. Brian vomiting for over 30 seconds was a bit much... and ironically normal for the show.
