Allen,

I would double-check your preorder over the next few days, as for the
moment, this title has been mislabeled on Amazon.

I anticipate they will make the correction without effecting the preorders.

Ron,

Highly recommend this film! You'll see Shirley Partridge in a much different light. :P

When people ask me for "something different" to watch, ELMER GANTRY is always the film I recommend. I always get very enthusiastic feedback.

In so many ways this gripping, thought-provoking film, made over 50 years ago, is still ahead of its time.
Burt is just dynamic and so deserved his Oscar; this is a definite pre-order for me.

I read the original Sinclair Lewis novel as a high school assignment 40+years ago...this movie was a wonderful cinematic translation of that story...
Sinclair Lewis was an excellent author. Read Arrowsmith as well, if you are so inclined.

Not if you click on any pre-order links. No Blu-ray shows up when you search on Amazon.

Any chance these later titles will be discounted further to the $16.99 pre-order price that the first eight are going for?

There's always a chance, but I think they'll rise before that happens.

Burt Lancaster & Shirley Jones both earned their Oscars for their roles in this movie...and very well-deserved they were!!!
It's my favourite Burt Lancaster performance, although he is said to have claimed that he was simply playing himself.

Ken...

This is it. I mentioned above that Amazon has mislabeled it. However,
read the cast and Director and you will know it's Elmer Gantry.

...or you could just wait until Amazon fixes it

In my cart..it shows I now have 2 Taras Bulbas.
Look at the cast and director and you'll see which one is titled wrong and is actually Elmer Gantry.

Other than the opening title sequence in which the Previn score was distorted, I have no regrets about purchasing this BD. I gave the video presentation a grade of 4.0 on a scale of 1-5 with 5 being the highest grade. The title sequence was disconcerting, but the rest of the film audio track was fine even with it being in mono. Overall, I'm happy with this BD even though I wish MGM had fixed the distortion of the opening title sequence.
