Between 1974 and 1987 Earl Owensby of Shelby, North Carolina produced about two dozen low-budget, independent films with his own money at his own estate which he had turned into a full-service studio. Several of his films were shot in the StereoVision system, a single-camera twin-lens rig that placed the left eye and right eye over/under on a single strip of 35mm film. Those I've seen, including Rottweiler (1981) and Tales of the Third Dimension (1984) were carefully shot and offered excellent 3-D.
The Owensby organization is now offering some their genre films on home video for the first time. Unfortunately, none are in 3-D. However, all his films are worth checking out:
