Great thread and maybe someone here can help me. I have a very fond memory of a movie from the late 60's early 70's that my brother and I used to watch often. It was a Hammer Horror type movie about people on an island where a creature was killing everyone by removing their bones. I do remember the creatures were called something like Silly Kates because we always used to go around saying watch out for the Silly Kates. Anyone know what this movie might have been and if it is on DVD. I would love to refresh that childhood memory although I'm sure watching it now the movie will probably suck.

Ernest Goes to Camp
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles I
The Sandlot
Who Framed Roger Rabbit

and several TV shows most notably: Saved by the Bell...I bought it to remind me how cheesy it was back when it first aired and yet how I'd watch it everyday.

This is an interesting thread...

The Ghost and Mr. Chicken. Still hilarious. Gotta love Don Knotts as Luther Heggs, and his speech at the luncheon.

Growing up with the Saturday afternoon chopsocky flicks, there was one movie that stuck out in my memory, and I had to have; The only problem was that I didn't know the title or any of the actors! I only remembered the one training scene which involved silver balls dropping from a statue, and the time of day the student trained...

After six years of scouring the 'net, I finally found the title and DVD, Executioners from Shaolin! I can tell you, when I finally had the DVD in my hands, I was one happy camper! :D

My list would be incredibly long. I'd venture to say that almost half of the movies I own are on the shelf in large part because of the "memory" of seeing those films as a child or adolescent. Doesn't mean that they aren't good films and that I wouldn't have wanted them anyway, but the "motivation" for the purchase was to recapture that memory:

Willy Wonka
Hobbit
Secret of NIHM (not OAR...grrr!!)
All the Disney Classics
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Dark Crystal
Labyrinth
Jeremiah Johnson
Ben Hur
LadyHawke
Ferris Beuller
ET
Time Bandits
My Body Guard
Legend
Dune
Terminator
Aliens
Beastmaster
Krull (ok this one if for the memory only!)
Tron
Zulu
Pretty in Pink
Goonies
Neverending Story
Breakfast Club
Wizard of Oz
Pillow Talk
What's Up Doc

and virtually every Christmas movie I own:
A Christmas Story
A Christmas Carol (George C Scott)
The Grinch who Stole Christmas (animated)
Rudolph the Red-nose reigndeer
Peanuts specials...

And all the rest!

The "lowlight" of my DVD purchasing/enjoyment history was a couple of years back when I got "Emmitt Otter's Jugband Christmas". It was on HBO all the time when I was younger and I remember loving it.
Popped it in and watched it with my wife. It was not a pleasant experience. My wife looked at me like I was insane.

The only true childhood memory purchase for me was the Battelstar Galactica set. Now I know why I don't remember some of these episodes...they weren't worth remembering! The nice thing about getting all thos Muppet Movies is that I can truly say that they're for my kids.
