I have a question about whether I should buy a dvd player or stick to my ps3 as the main source of playing a disk. I don't really have a desire to watch movies in blu-ray which the ps3 normally played.

100% of my movies are your standard dvd player. If I were to purchase a dvd player, do they come with an HDMI port or are the blue rays the only ones that have adopted that technology?

Is there a good/bad dvd player that should/should not go with my Denon AVR-1513?

It's just better to get a Blu-ray player since it plays also DVDs. PS3 ("Slim" model, at least) is actually very good Blu-ray AND DVD player with great upscaling.

Yes you can find DVD players with HDMI.

    How cheap do you want?
    http://www.amazon.com/GPX-DH300B-1080p-Upconversion-Player/dp/B003E4M4WQ/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1388773906&sr=1-4&keywords=gpx+dvd+player

You can find used players, but they won't much cheaper...

    LG DN191
    Pioneer DV420 (there are others)

Pretty much the only thing keeping "DVD players alive" are multi-region players. Many HDMI multi-region are still $30 used. But a used $30 multi-region is going to be better than that GPX.

Buy a Blu-ray player. With them on sale as cheap as $69, it's silly not to. And they will improve the quality of your DVD's also. I highly recommend the Panasonic players.

I have 2 DVD players and switch back and forth between them - it reduces general wear and tear if you alternate machines, rather than using one unit all the time.

Sony players are normally the #1 standard - I wouldn't have any other brand, quite honestly.

i have never had a problem with sony at all!! But, with it being home theater type stuff, i figured you guys would know the ins and outs and the what to/what not to buy

I've had a Sony Blu-ray player since 2009 and, touch wood, it hasn't skipped a beat.

Panasonic BD89. Best Buy has it on sale for $75. Great players with great DVD upscaling.
