1. Saving Private Ryan (preferably DTS). The definition of what home theater surround sound can do.

2. In the Mood For Love - French release. The menus, extras, and package design continue the feel of the film into a wonderful united whole.

3. Toy Story Toy Box. An easy choice, but a great example of providing extras that welcome both the new DVD owner and us "old lags."

Toy Story Ultimate Toy Box. Great transfers, great audio, great extras.

Terminator 2 Ultimate Edition. Show off menus, seamless branching, (Easter eggs)

Saving Private Ryan DTS- outstanding audio.

(Above all else, buy what you like. Don’t buy to show off. There will always be a better show off disk coming down the pipe. It’s the nature of this hobby. I happen to love all of the aforementioned movies)

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace
- Great sound, great picture, more extras than you can shake a stick at, over the top menus and features...
North by Northwest
- Great classic film, and an excellent example of what the DVD format can do for old movies. The restoration done for both the audio and video of this film on DVD is simply amazing. This DVD has a reference quality picture from a 43 year old film.

-Because no self-respecting owner of a dvd player should be without a good audio/video calibration DVD.
