So far, most of what I've gotten is complaints that these places have gotten calls from "slow stoner types" who wanna call up and chat.

Vince, just to give another datapoint, one of the amps I was considering on buying was sold out from under your contact, after over a month of trading emails - well there was a 3 week gap, so it goes both ways. So, I am just going to wait until I really need the amp, and the just bite the bullet and pay a little bit more for an in-stock unit if needed. I do appreciate your efforts, but like you said, it's probably not worth pissing off your contacts for us "high maintainence" HTFers.
