Definitely a weakness in my seen list, though I'm pretty certain I've seen more than this (the plot of Fitzcarraldo rings a bell for instance).

Definitely a favorite, I would put Fassbinder and Murnau ahead of him, but I love Herzog's work too. He is a true visionary, with few exceptions his films are unlike any others and he is able to capture the most incredible, unforgettable images.

    *1. Aguirre, The Wrath of God - A (top 20 all-time)
*2. Stroszek - A (tragic, absurd, sad, grand, unforgettable)
*3. Even Dwarfs Started Small - A (go with 4 stars Bill! [IMG])
    *4. Fitzcarraldo - A
    *5. Nosferatu, The Vampyre - A
(often forgotten when discussing remakes, even by me, but it is one of the best. Kinski makes a terrific vampire and Bruno Ganz is a haunting Jonathan Harker)
*6. Ten Minutes Older: The Trumpet (2002) (segment "Ten Thousand Years Older") - A (absolutely devastating...another people doomed by our failure to learn from history, arrogance, and greed)
    7. My Best Fiend - A- (Ode to Kinski with another unforgettable final image)
    *8. Heart Of Glass - A-
*9. Every Man For Himself And God Against All - A-
    10. Grizzly Man - A-
    11. Lessons of Darkness - A-

    12. My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done? - A-
    *13. Cobra Verde - A-
(carried by imagery and Kinski's unbridled energy)
    14. The Dark Glow of the Mountains - B+
    15. The White Diamond - B+
    16. Little Dieter Needs To Fly - B+
    17. Where the Green Ants Dream - B+
    18. The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans - B+
    19. Encounters at the End of the World - B+
    20. Invincible - B+
    21. Ballad of the Little Soldier - B+
    22. The Great Ecstasy of the Woodcarver Steiner - B+
    23. Signs of Life - B

    24. Cave of Forgotten Dreams - B
    25. Fata Morgana - B
    26. La Soufrière - B
    27. Rescue Dawn - B
    *28. Woyzeck - B-
(incredible opening and closing scenes but the rest is disjointed and somewhat uninteresting. Began shooting 3 days after Nosferatu wrapped with Kinski completely exhausted.)
    29. Land of Silence and Darkness - B-
    30. Precautions Against Fanatics - B-
    31. Wheel of Time - C+
    32. How Much Wood Could a Woodchuck Chuck... - C
    33. The Wild Blue Yonder - C

    34. Ode to the Dawn of Man - C

Own: 10 and have My Best Fiend on VHS

In other news, a Hamilton, Ontario barbershop was held up by a man carrying a large turkey tucked under his arm.

Excellent, I just hope the Week-End transfer is a good one. I really liked Sterrit's commentary for Les Carabiners, glad he got the chance to do another one. New Yorker has improved a lot from the old days when they were comparable to Fox Lorber.

They're also releasing Bresson's L'Argent in a couple of weeks.
