OMG, I just checked Steve Christou's profile and discovered that he's actually 42!!!!!

I thought you were a teenager! :D

That makes you 1 year older than me. ;)

:laugh: I wish I wasn't 42, my back! Bill I checked your age back when you were bashing El Spielbergo and was shocked, really shocked to see you were in your 40's too, btw when are you going back to that thread and redo your ratings? Now that you've calmed down a tad, it looked like some 10 year old was editing your post, "Jaws Sucks!" indeed.;)

Sorry Steve...Jaws still sucks! :)

Remember the scene where Robert Shaw scratches his nails on the blackboard......that's the way that whole movie made me feel! :angry:

I've just ordered the 30th anniversary edition, it's one of my top ten favorite films.
Oh well, we seem to agree on Terence Fisher at least.

I'm also waiting for my Jaws 30th anv disc to arrive. :emoji_thumbsup:

Well at least now I don't feel so old anymore. (37) :D I bet it sucks being over-the-hill like you fellas. At least you guys have viagra nowadays to help some, right? ;)

It's good to know HTF isn't completely populated with snot-nosed twentysomethings. ;)

Oh and Steve tsk, tsk. ;)

first Badham's Point of No Return over the frenchie original? Now Tracy's Hyde over March's? What's next? 2010 over sir Kubrick's original? ;)

Though I do admit March's Hyde looks like the illegitimate offspring of Jerry Lewis & King Kong. :D

No Jim I like 2001 far more than 2010, now if 2001 had been French and 2010 was the remake that's another story, wink wink. But there are quite a few sequels and remakes I prefer to the original or earlier work. Kaufman's Body Snatcher's for instance, Wyler's Ben-Hur, Fisher's Dracula, Mad Max 2 etc etc

Or snotty-nosed thirty and fortysomethings thank christ, otherwise I'd been outta here years ago.:)

btw which director have you got planned for your 100th checklist? Or is it a secret? Oh we'll find out tomorrow.;)

Well selecting the greatest Hollywood film of all time is nothing more than a person's opinion, and my opinion is just as valid as anyone else's, so yes, The Apartment is the greatest film ever made in Hollywood. :)

Yeah I'd pretty much say the Apartment is the greatest Hollywood film of all time (just a hair over How Green was my Valley) since my other favorites weren't shot (all) in Hollywood.

And count me among those that prefer scarecrows and cowardly lions to vile wicked witches (scarlett) and I'd rather rewatch (on video) the much more entertaining Red Dust than the 'needs to be seen on the big screen to be worth enduring again' gone with the wind .

Gone with the Wind (1939) - :star::star::star:1/2
The Wizard of Oz (1939) - :star::star::star::star:
Captains Courageous (1937) - :star::star::star::star:
Red Dust (1932) - :star::star::star:

For whatever reason (I can't explain it) I have really come to enjoy Gone with The Wind quite a bit (this coming from someone who never understood the appeal). It is my wifes favorite movie, so I was "forced" to buy the new special edition and watched it again (the fourth time). It really is a good movie, though still on the soap opera-ish side.

I enjoy it more that The Wizard of Oz. Even as a kid, I never could buy into the "special effects", and to this day, I just tend not to enjoy musicals (for the most part).
