Just American Pop, Heavy Traffic and Fritz the Cat. Pretty sure I saw LOTR back in the day.

Not sure which of these I've seen for sure. Definitely Lord of the Rings, which was great to have for it's day, but never got finished, and is certainly superfulous now. Probably/possibly seen:

Cool World (1992)
American Pop (1981)
Wizards (1977)
Heavy Traffic (1973)

I saw Bakshi's Lord of the Rings a number of times at the cinema on original release, absolutely loved it, fantastic use of rotoscope, and was greatly disappointed he never got round to finishing the story.
Fire and Ice had even better roto-animation, a Frank Frazetta painting in motion, also looking forward to the upcoming SE. :emoji_thumbsup:

1. American Pop - A- (I think this is mostly a fantastic celebration of American music but following up a sizzling number like Janis Joplin's "Summertime" with "Night Moves" is anti-climatic to say the least)
2. The Lord of the Rings - B

3. Fire & Ice - B-
4. Fritz the Cat - B- (seen on film)

Own: 0

Would like to see more of his work, particularly Wizards and Coonskin.

2.Heavy Traffic (1973) ***
3.American Pop (1981) ***
4.Fire and Ice (1983) ***

I'm interested in watching his other feature films from the 1970s and early 80s.

Heavy Traffic's my favorite movie of Bakshi's, as well the director's own favorite as well, in addition to being a favorite of many of the fans. What didn't you like about it? Traffic, Fritz, Hey Good Lookin' and Coonskin are, in my opinion, Bakshi's best movies.

I'm surprised you even ranked Cool World over Traffic - everyone, including Bakshi himself has called Cool World a piece of shit. The studio stole it from him, ruined the story and screenplay, made all the wrong casting decisions (Brad Pitt was originally Jack Deebs, for instance, and Bakshi wanted Drew Barrymore to play Holli Would, who was originally named Debbie Dallas).

I'm pretty surprised at the overall lack of response towards Bakshi's earliest films here. I thought that they would be getting rave reviews. Anyway, here's my ranking --

Heavy Traffic (1973) :star::star::star::star::star:
Coonskin (1975) :star::star::star::star::star:
Hey Good Lookin' (1982) :star::star::star::star::star:
Fritz the Cat (1972) :star::star::star::star::star:
American Pop (1981) :star::star::star::star::star:
Cool and the Crazy (1994) (TV) :star::star::star::star::star:
The Lord of the Rings (1978) :star::star::star::star::star:
Wizards (1977) :star::star::star::star::star:
Cool World (1992) 1/2 (for the animation. Everything else sucks. Thanks, Paramount.)
Fire and Ice (1983) - still haven't gotten around to seeing it yet.

Seen:
Wizards (1977) - 8/10 - a blind DVD buy. Very happy with it. Trippy!

Heavy Traffic (1973) - 8/10
Cool World (1992) - Been a long time. I don't remember liking it at all. Roger Rabbit wannabe.

Ones I want to see:
Hey Good Lookin' (1982)

American Pop (1981) - high on my list 2 see. I may blind buy.
Fritz the Cat (1972) - high on my list 2 see. I may blind buy.
Fire and Ice (1983) - high on my list 2 see. I'll blind buy it.
The Lord of the Rings (1978)
... aka J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings (USA: complete title)

If I can find others on the list I'd love to see them as well. This kind of animation is a trip. I recently saw the similarly rotoscoped Starchaser for the first time in about 20 years. It didn't age so well. Not terrible, but not too good either.

Dunno, maybe I was unprepared for the stark realism and downbeat tone or I was in a foul mood. But I think the overall story just didn't appeal to me.

Updated: Fire & Ice - B- I'm sure I would have liked this more if I was seeing it for the 1st time when I was 12.
