I'm not sure if this should go into the PC area or here, but since it's camcorder related I'm taking my chances here.

I have a JVC DV camcorder that can record in the standard interlaced mode as well as progressive scan mode. As warned in the manual, movement does look "unnatural" when using PS, but I don't see any other issue.

But I'm wondering where the benefits and negatives are in recording under PS as opposed to "regular" mode. Just about everything that I do with the camcorder goes to DVD; however, I'm the only one in the family with a progressive scan DVD player.

So, before I decide which mode I will be using regularly, I'd like some information over the benefits and drawbacks, even those not very apparent, of recording in progressive scan mode with a direct conversion to DVD.
