I'm going to have to buy the new Diana Krall CD now. I have a couple of her CD's but you could say I'm a MUCH bigger Elvis Costello fan. Sounds good...especially Krall doing "Almost Blue."

From the Costello-A mailing list:

"Diana Krall's new album, The Girl In The Other Room, will be released next
month, April 27, and will feature six new songs co-written with Elvis. The
rest of the track listing reads like an Elvis playlist: Stop This World (by
Mose Allison), Temptation (Tom Waits), Love Me Like A Man (Bonnie Raitt),
I'm Pulling Through (Billie Holliday), Black Crow (Joni Mitchell), and
Elvis' own Almost Blue.

The original songs by Elvis and Diana: The Girl In The Other Room, I've
Changed My Address, Narrow Daylight, Abandoned Masquerade, I'm Coming
Through, Departure Bay. Bonus cuts for the Japanese import are the old
standard I'll Never Be The Same and an original, Sometimes I Just Freak Out."

I just hope Elvis was out of his depressed I want to kill myself stage when they collaborated on these songs, or we may end up with North Part Deux.

Totally off-topic, but I think Ali Larter would make a good Diana Krall if they ever make a movie about her. :)

Hey gang! Just picked up (at Barnes & Noble) a two song CD which is promoting the new Krall album. The two songs are:

Temptation 4:28 (Tom Waits)
I'll Never Be The Same 4:49 (Matty Malneck, Frank Signorelli, Gus Kahn)

Band is:

Anthony Wilson -- guitar
Neil Larsen -- Hammond B-3
Christian McBride -- bass
Terri Lyne Carrington -- drums
all on track 1

just: krall -- vocals/piano on track 2

Music is as awesome as ever, but track 1 is a definite departure from her normal jazz mode. Track 2 comes in as a classic Krall performance of a "standard".
