Currently, I believe the breakdown is as follows for released laptop product:
BD: Dell/Alienware and Sony (Side note. I found it a little funny to see the 360 add-on for sale on the Dell website) HD: Toshiba, Fujistu, Acer, HP/Compaq
No. The Dell's handle all SD-DVD disks, both read and write. This is just not an option I would have any interest in at the 800.00 preium they place on it. I don't require HD viewing on my laptop, and the deadly slow speed of the BD (and hd for that matter) write capability makes the drives next to useless.
"Deadly slow"? I know a pretty long time is quoted for doing a whole disc, but what is that in Mbps, anyway? Since a single-layer BD is 2.5 times the capacity of a double-layer DVD, the write time per disc can be a lot longer even if the data-transfer rates are the same or higher. I haven't really looked into it, because it's not a capability I have any use for (I just got a DVD burner, to be honest).
