Okay, so this morning I placed an order for five discs. Three were in stock, two were backorders. Some time later, the confirmation email came... but it only listed three of the discs (two of the in-stocks and one of the backorders). Later I got a shipping confirmation for the two listed in that email that were available.

I checked my order history just now and all five discs were there.

Any idea what this means? If anything?

GILMORE GIRLS-3RD SEASON $34.55
CONAN O'BRIEN - BEST OF TRIUMPH THE DOG $7.42
SEVEN (PLATNIUM SERIES) $16.32
MULHOLLAND DR $7.91
FAR FROM HEAVEN $7.91
MALICE $7.48
THE LION IN WINTER $7.29
BULWORTH $5.74
SIX FEET UNDER-3RD SEASON $ 55.91

I've got myself the makins' for a while now. There was a bit of a Sorkin theme in the 2nd order with a heavy influence from TLIW, writing Malice and uncredited dialogue polish on Bulworth. Does anyone know if they changed the packaging for Six Feet Under sets?

Total of 16 DVD/DVD sets (49 DVDs) for about $307. PLUS, I got an additional 10% off on the big order due to a previous DDD problem, so my real total is around $281, or about $17.56 per DVD set or $5.73 per single DVD.

Out of that, I figure I’ll resell on eBay the 2 Waltons & 1 Little House once my wife watches them, and the 2 Alias seasons, once I watch them, for AT LEAST as much as the $140 I paid for them (I think, actually, I should even be able to turn a profit given how great these prices are!), which will leave me with about $140 spent for 11 DVD sets (19 DVDs), plus free viewing of 5 seasons (30 DVDs) of TV! Lol So I’m kinda psyched.

My first (and largest) order was made last Monday, and has not arrived (in NY) yet.

Alias Season 3 said it wouldn’t be available until July, but it’s already shipped!

So the only Not Availables I have left are Pulp Fiction & Ultraviolet.

All of this, I sure, being EXTREMELY interesting to all! LOL (but fun for me to recount :^)

A warning about "Guarding Tess". Based on a previous posting and also my checking it out with DVD Profiler myself, I believed the version that DDD was selling was the widescreen version. It was not specified in their listing.

My order arrived today and the back of the package states it is full screen. I don't want break the seal unless there's a chance both versions are on the dvd. Any thoughts?

That's not good news. I ordered it from DDD as well and it's been shipped (but I haven't received it yet).

Sony Pictures' web-site only lists one version of the DVD and the Features are listed as "Widescreen Presentation". Here's the link:
http://www.sonypictures.com/homevide...396787094.html

Johnny - How does the cover of your copy compare to the one on Sony's site?

Does anyone know if there is (or was) a previous version in circulation that is P&S / FF only? Or has there been only one version released?

Your link takes me to a page that shows a cover identical to the one that was shipped to me. That page indicates it is widescreen. Clicking on that cover image goes to another page where the cover image is different. On that page, the format of the movie is both widescreen and full frame.

So I opened my dvd, hoping to find a disc with no art so that it could be flipped, but alas, there is art. Played the disc and it is full frame only.

So, can I return this to DDD? There site, as of yesterday, still does not specify the format of the film.

I'd send DDD an email and explain the situation to them. The cover they have on their site for Guarding Tess is the same one on the Sony Style site that contains both versions. DDD's return policy states that they only accept returns on unopened DVD's but it's still worth a shot.

Good luck and thanks for the heads-up on this.

I've returned opened discs to DDD that arrived scratched, so you might be able to do something about this. Give 'em a call.

Just called DDD (tried email first and no reply) and they are emailing me a postage paid mailing label so that I can return the dvd for credit even though it has been opened.

I explained the problem and she accepted it with no question. I have to admit in the past that customer service has been good with DDD.

I think the last time I had to return something, I just reversed the original mailing label inside the cardboard box so that the return address showed through the window.

Anyway, no complaints about DDD's customer service!

finally got home last night and found about 7 or 8 big boxes waiting for me. opened 'em up today was was suprised to find that only 3 of the movies/sets had 'issues'.
two discs (one of the three MASH seasons i ordered, and the JAWS 30th CE) have loose discs that i can hear. haven't opened them yet and will probably wait until i contact DDD.
the only other 'problem' i see is my Starsky & Hutch box is a little more dinged up than i would like. i'm usually pretty anal about condition because i intend to sell off most of these after i watch them and not being able to advertise that the packaging is in excellant condition puts me at a disadvantage i feel.
otherwise just about everything else looks to have arrived in great shape, which was not always the case in the past with DDD.

great job with this sale!

I had a season of MASH that I had to return twice between of loose discs and then just gave up on when it came back a third time with a loose disc from a different dealer.

i feel VERY lucky that two of the three MASH sets didn't have a loose disc.
i was going to get them from Barnes & Noble when they had their buy 2 get one free sale (with 10% off would have been the same as the DDD sale price), but i couldn't find any of the seasons that i wanted that didn't have a loose disc in them rattling around.
and the set i bought last year had to be exchanged as well for another because of...you guessed it.

i don't know what it is with these, the hubs seem like they should be much more secure than this since they are not the 'top depress and release' kind. i can't understand why so many of the MASH sets have this problem.

opened up my Dragnet set and was surprised to find a scratched floater in there as well. couldn't hear it during a sealed shake. this set was going to be a 'keeper' so as long as the eps play ok,i may not bother sending it back.
