I called the 800 number this morning and was told to use the code CUSTSERV. I wasn't able to try it until I got home from work a few hours ago but it worked just fine.
This time around, I put my list into a spreadsheet I built. I can enter the prices from DD and DVD Planet, calculate the discount, flag which retailer had the lower price and calculate the price differential.
Mine started coming in last week. Unfortunately I won't be able to see them until December 27, because my Mother footed the Bill for these as a CHRISTmas Presant! (I'll be in Ohio on December 25), so I'll actually get to celebrate the Big Day TWICE!
I ordered the MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. set from DVD Planet on the first day of the sale, and it arrived today (but it was listed as out of stock when I ordered).
DDD orders placed on 11/11 and 11/15 arrived last Friday and Saturday.
I received my first shipment yesterday (order placed Nov. 21); I also got an email on one title (Valmont) saying it's now OOP and won't be shipping (not a huge surprise on that one). Also got an email yesterday from DVD Planet that another box is on its way from them.
Ordered The Ultimate Matrix BD boxset during the first couple days of the sale -- and like everything else, it was listed as out of stock at the time. They restocked and shipped it out to me roughly a week later, and I just received it yesterday (roughly a week in transit). Seems pretty common (and perfectly acceptable) to me for something reasonably popular where they wouldn't take too long to restock. Normally, if the item is in stock, free shipping takes roughly a week to get to me (give or take a little).
FWIW, I also ordered Casino and Eastern Promises on BD from DVD Planet, and since those were actually in stock when I ordered, they took roughly a week to arrive w/ free shipping.
I placed seven seperate orders between the two retailers, starting on the first day of the sale, with a final order last night.Out of 59 seperate titles, so far I've received 53. Obviously I don't expect last nights order for another couple of weeks, so only Wall-E and Come And Get It are going to take a little. I feel like I got a good deal on them, plus I have more than enough to keep me busy, so no hurries here. Some personal stats from this sale: Number of titles ordered- 59 Number of titles I'll be returning, unopened because I changed my mind- 8 Number of titles that arrived as 'floaters'- 3 (so far), but only one actually needs to be replaced Average cost per title this sale- $16.50 Number of titles that were Bd 'upgrades' of something I already owned on dvd-16 Didn't expect to spend this much in the sale this year, but I had a good amount of store credit built up at DVD Planet, and some impulse buys were just priced too good to pass up (The Godfather Bd set was $20 cheaper than if I'd gotten it at Amazon, the Ty Power Matinee Idol set was 60% off msrp, etc). All in all, a pretty satisfying sale for me, tho with the reccession, this may end up being the last hurrah for a while. Next sale, I'm going to try to build up even more credit and spend half as much.
I've already begun planning for their next "Supersale"! I am saving up for a "Splurge Purchase" which will run alongside another Purchase that my Mother will Consficate until August 19 (My B-Day) In the meantime I'm sure there will be other 1/2-Price/BOGO/Clearance Sales, so just keep your eyes peeled!
