I still hate the organization of DDD's site. Unless you specifically know what you want, just browsing around is a total chore, I need a "show all" option within the genres!

I just scored seasons 2 and 3 of "The Kids In the Hall" for 28.77 apiece.
I'm fucking happy (and curiously forgetful about everything else I wanted).

Someone from DDD posted in the DVDTalk thread about the price fluctuations. Computer glitches, apparently. Some people believe the guy, some people don't. All I can say is that I was very happy with the (small) order I placed as far as prices were concerned. Still beat anyone else on the net according to dvdpricesearch.com. I got Scrubs S1 and South Park S6 for under 50 bucks shipped.

Yeah, there are some pretty intense people over there. I guess HTF has its moments too, but generally I think it's a little more pleasant over here.

Just got Wizard of Oz 3 disc, Looney Tunes V3, and Live 8 ($170 MSRP) for under $90. It's always nice to be able to get nearly 50% off box sets that have all been released within the last 3 weeks. [IMG]

    Eerie, Indiana

The sale's good through 11/19 (next Saturday).

I placed a few orders this morning. I'll place another one on Tuesday, when all the 11/15 releases should become eligible for the sale.

    Total Savings: $458.24

I paid 52.8% of regular retail price for these DVDs. If you include (California State) tax, I only paid 49.2% of regular retail price.

In particular, the "Legendary Jerry Collection" is a killer deal. This set includes all 10 Jerry Lewis DVDs released in 2004, repackaged in a box set. At $21.35, you save an amazing 62.5% off of the regular retail price of $56.95.

I'm picking up the 2 disc, 60th anniversary edition of "State Fair" when it's released next Tuesday, then I'm done DVD shopping for awhile. I spent a lot, but I saved a lot, and my home viewing is set for many months.

    FYI
To counter slow DDD website speeds and browse DDD easier, I specifically use DVDPriceSearch.com for all of my shopping with this sale:

Find the title that you want, just use DVDPriceSearch's (DPS) search engine to get their results. If you're happy with DDD's price, then click on DPS's link which will take you to the exact webpage listing on DDD. Add to cart, and you didn't have use DDD's slower search engine - you're all done!

You can also use DPS to browse DDD's website also, just click on "Power Search" and select DDD as the only store to search. That way you can see the specific genres/studios/whatever else that you want.

Finally, for the audiophiles out there, one last thing I do is to search on DPS specifically for all the DVD-AUDIO titles that DDD carries. Sorry, they don't carry any SA-CDs last time I checked (probably on DDCD). Just punch in the search string "DVD-Audio" in DPS, and it will bring you all the DVD-A's available, and can take you to the exact listing on DDD!

Hope some of this advice is useful, I might sound like a DPS salesman but I'm not - it just saves me a TON of time instead of browsing DDD. Also, there's no easier way for me to find DVD-A titles, and this sale is always the best for that, since DVD-A's are usually expensive and rarely discounted anywhere.
    Happy shopping![IMG]

DDD has a new search engine that is very good and light-years better than the old one, which was horrible.

PS Thanks to JamesY for the DVDPriceSearch.com web site--I didn't know about it.

Ditto that. I was very pleasantly surprised when browsing DDD last night with the new engine.

I've got to disagree. There've been several titles I've had a hard time finding with the new system, and the advance search is nowhere near as good as the old method. For example, doing a director search on Fritz Lang doesn't turn up Clash by Night; a search for Elia Kazan doesn't show A Face in the Crowd or A Streetcar Named Desire (in fact, DDD doesn't seem to have ASND at all).

Their new search engine is faster. I placed my first order with them this morning and I did all the searching from within their website and everything was coming up very quickly.

Does anyone know why they don't have "Cannibal Holocaust 2-Disc Limited Edition" for sale? I looked everywhere on their site and they don't seem to have it at all. Pretty strange, considering that all the other internet stores have them. I was hoping to get it discounted, but now I may just have to buy it at full price from somewhere else.

The one thing that bothers me, is that I had a huge list (and I do mean HUGE) of about 150 DVDs that I wanted to buy from them when they had the next sale. And while I hadn't written down the exact price they were before the sale, I can pretty much remember some (or most) of the prices of the ones that I desperately wanted to get from them. ALL of the ones that I wanted have been marked-up severely. Like way, way, more than they were before the sale started. Even with the 20% off, they are still more expensive than what they were when there was no sale.

I specifically remember "Here On Earth" being around $6 before the sale and now it's $10, so even if you take away 20% off, you still pay more than it originally cost.

The same goes for all of the ones in my want list. This is the worst "sale" ever.

I also remember "Torch Song Trilogy" and "The Deli" just under $10 each. Now each one is over $13. Again, even with the 20% off, you still pay more than what they originally cost.

I was so excited about the sale, but now that I see how much they raised prices, I'm totally bummed out about it.

The really strange thing is that according to DVDpricesearch, about 90% of all of the titles on my want list are priced lowest at DeepDiscount.

Am I crazy, or are DVD prices climbing *EVERYWHERE* not just at DDD but absolutely everywhere? Even Ebay sellers seem to be charging more for DVDs than they ever have. Every seller on there is charging $7-10 for shipping a single DVD. I can't believe this!

That's strange. All of mine seemed to be at DDDs normal prices.
