Pretty Amazing list, there, Matthew!

I would absolutely second the following (omitting titles that are currently available as perfectly fine Region B releases):
LOS OLVIDADOS
SOLDIER OF ORANGE
THE 4TH MAN
WAR AND PEACE (Don't get why this is unavailable, but then, NAPOLEON...)
MEPHISTO
PIXOTE
EUROPA EUROPA
WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND
LA STRADA.

I, too, am awaiting a boatload of foreign-language gems that are being released one here, one there (NIGHT OF THE SHOOTING STARS, THE EMIGRANTS/THE NEW LAND, SALAAM BOMBAY! and CITY OF LOST CHILDREN most recently) Here would be my wish list for 2016 Criterion foreign films not available on excellent Blu-rays in Europe):

SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE (upgrade)
NIGHTS OF CABIRIA (upgrade)
FIRES ON THE PLAIN (upgrade)
THE VIRGIN SPRING (upgrade)
ANDREI RUBLEV (upgrade)
ALEXANDER NEVSKY (upgrade)
THE RULING CLASS (UK) (upgrade)
A KNIFE IN THE WATER (upgrade)
DEVIL AND DANIEL WEBSTER (US) (upgrade)
AU HASARD BALTHAZAR (upgrade)
UGETSU (upgrade)
PANDORA'S BOX (upgrade)
Z (upgrade)
BIG DEAL ON MADONNA STREET (upgrade)

Criterion has been upgrading at a regular pace, so I suspect at least some of the above will show up this year or next. But what about other foreign films that would so easily fit into the Criterion Collection:

THE OFFICIAL STORY
KING OF MASKS
JU DOU
GET OUT YOUR HANDKERCHIEFS
BURNT BY THE SUN (SONY HAS THIS)
A HANDFUL OF DUST (UK)
ALLEGRO NON TROPPO
BLACK RAIN (JAPANESE)
BREAD AND CHOCOLATE
CARTOUCHE
THE CHILDREN ARE WATCHING US
GARDEN OF THE FINZI-CONTINIS
CHILDREN OF HEAVEN
NOWHERE IN AFRICA
DIVA
THE EXTERMINATING ANGEL
FIORILE
HOUR OF THE WOLF
I'M NOT SCARED
COME AND SEE
JOURNEY OF HOPE

This list is already getting out of hand, but the point is there are hundreds of superb foreign language films unreleased on Blu-ray anywhere in the world (and I do keep track). Before I die -- I'm 66 -- I'd love to own a few dozen of these, and may very well. I think we'll get SMALL CHANGE and THE WILD CHILD from Twilight Time or someone this coming year, as they are part of the MGM/UA catalog, and others from that company have already come out. Criterion will continue to upgrade and add a few new foreign titles this year. We'll probably see new Bunuel and Bergman Blu's. I am worried that way too many of the classics I just listed (plus so many more) won't ever see the light of day either 1. before I pass, 2 before the Blu-ray format dies slowly out. Selfish, yes, but when it comes to this "hobby," aren't we all?

"The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz" is a classic widescreen film that has never even been released letterboxed. It's crazy that the best Canadian film ever made gets this kind of treatment.

I'd love to see a couple of Godard upgrades, although I think StudioCanal has these titles now:

Une femme est une femme

Le Mépris

Varda's Cléo de 5 à 7 would be great, too.

And my annual never-going-to-happen selections: Bogdanovich's Targets, and the original The Stepford Wives.

Nothing But a Man (1964, Michael Roemer)

It Happened Here (1966, Kevin Brownlow/Andrew Mollo) - Milestone has DVD rights, but it's been out of print for years.

Wow, lots of great films listed here. From the ones that I have seen posted I would definitely second (or third, fourth...)

2. 1492

3. Song of the South
