    The box states 1.66:1 but I thought this was in VistaVision which we all know was "adaptable" but surely 1.85:1 would be more accurate?

    I could be mistaken but I believe 1.66 was the preferred aspect ratio in British films of the time.

    Yes but on recollection Richard 111 was the only film I know of that was released in an anamorphic VV print for 2.0:1. As the format was variable up to that ratio 1.66 seems a little too narrow.
