Consumers Satisfied with UltraViolet says NPD (1 Viewer)

I think people are having less issues with registration to Ultraviolet as time goes on and satisfaction levels are at very good levels for the service:

Eighty-two percent of UltraViolet users say they’re satisfied with the buy once, play anywhere digital cloud content experience, and one-third report they’re buying more DVDs and Blu-ray Discs because of UltraViolet, according to a survey from The NPD Group.
More than 70% of users said they will continue to add UltraViolet titles to their libraries, and 78% of UltraViolet users said the registration process was easy. NPD noted that satisfaction levels are comparable to those for Netflix, Redbox and iTunes.
“The positive user feedback on UltraViolet is critically important, not only for the obvious reason that the service needs to be competitive with other options for digital home video, but also because the research pointed out that UV needs more evangelists,” said Russ Crupnick, SVP of industry analysis for The NPD Group.
While only 15% of consumers are even aware of UltraViolet, six in 10 home video buyers said they are interested in the service.
“From the perspective of today’s UltraViolet users, the utility provided by physical discs, perhaps for the living room or automobile, combined with access to a digital version usable on a multitude of devices, translates to a hard benefit at retail,” Crupnick said.
The survey included 3,187 UltraViolet respondents in July and another 10,071 from an online survey panel featuring consumers, most of whom were not registered for UltraViolet.

I think a lot of progress has been made since UltraViolet first launched. At first, you had to create an account for each studio that participated in the early launch. That meant you had to have accounts for UV, Sony, Paramount, Universal, and WB (flixster). Fox and Lionsgate had yet to release a title. By mid summer of 2012, Vudu offered the abilty to redeem titles from all UV studios directly on it's website. CinemaNow and TargetTicket now offer that capability as well.

Another problem with early redemptions was that people would get SD copies with redemptions from codes that came with Blu-rays, which led people to make lists of which releases came with HD and which did not. Now, that problem has also been fixed. And most studio's have upgraded the ones that were incorrect for people that asked.

Another problem was that there weren't enough apps for portable devices such as the iPad, and Adroid phones and tablets. Once Cinema now launched their app for both platforms that became a thing of the past. Now there are multiple apps to choose from for both platforms.

UV is still in it's infancy. Retailers will continue to launch. More features will be added. The Common File Format will solve a lot of problems, when it finally comes. You should be able to download a file, save it to multiple locations, and play it with many devices. More titles will be added, and additonal studio's (Disney, MGM, Independants) will join as UV becomes more common. When all of this happens, UV use will greatly increase. It took two years to get to 16 million. I think in another 2 years we could approach 40 million accounts.

So, what's the procedure, if I re-enter the code from the insert, the HDX will be added?

Open a support ticket from the site you redeemed it from. Tell them you got a SD copy from your blu-ray. You may need to tell them the code, or take a picture of the code sheet or the blu-ray itself. They will either give you a new code, or upgrade it for you in your locker. Good luck.
