What do you view it as?

It's #15 of the AFI's Laughs list for a reason.

Stripes

A Christmas Story

Blazing Saddles

The Thin Man
(yeah, Dr. Strangelove is better, but The Thin Man is so much better than most of the films in this tournament, it certainly doesn't deserve a first round shut out)
Yeah, me too.

Spaceballs (coinflip)
The Big Lebowski
Tommy Boy
Austin Powers (Stripes is crippled because the last 20m is simply awful)
Bull Durham (I guess, two dismally unfunny movies, but at least Durham doesn't preach that conformity is a good thing)
A Christmas Story
Blazing Saddles
Dr. Strangelove

- Lebowski's the better film, but I don't consider it a 'broad' comedy

ROUND 3

BROAD
Spaceballs (not a very good choice here)
The Big Lebowski

SNL ALUMNI
Tommy Boy (crappy choice either way, moderate work at best)
Stripes

SMART
Lost in America
A Christmas Story

CLASSIC
Blazing Saddles
Dr. Strangelove (I like Thin Man, but this is just too strong)

Incidentally, last round I would have broke the Mary/Ace tie by voting for Ace anyway (but I see 2 others would have gone for Mary, so you never know). No other votes would have changed things, but I would have voted against these winners:

Groundhog Day (I think BHC is funnier)
Election (good film, but Office Space is funnier)
Philly Story (Jerk is funnier to me, but both are top 20 comedies at least - see Holy Grail/Young Frank for another like this)

And two of my biggest complaints about their brackets were these seedings/pairings which should not be up against each other this soon:

Monty Python and the Holy Grail
v.
Young Frankenstein

The Philadelphia Story
v.
The Jerk

my votes:
abstain (only seen part of scoundrels)
Big Lebowski
abstain (no old school, but Tommy Boy is one of the greats, imo)
abstain (no Stripes)
abstain (neither in a long long time)
Christmas Story
Blazing Saddles
Dr. Strangelove (absolutely brutal, these are literally spaces apart on my all time list, but Strangelove is just too strong :frowning: )

Spaceballs advances 5-3
The Big Lebowski advances 8-2
Tommy Boy advances 4-2
Stripes advances 7-2
Lost in America advances 3-2
A Christmas Story advances 6-3
Blazing Saddles advances 9-1
Dr. Strangelove advances 8-1
