Okay, a bit of a strange question. I'm looking to get some top-notch chocolate covered cherries for my girlfriend. Yes, I got her some for Valentine's Day, but long story short she didn't end up getting too many of them. I'm not a big fan of the candy, so I honestly don't know what's good. Money is not a problem (well, within reason, people). Give me some recommendations!

The Russell Stover's are my favorite CCC.

The best kind are the ones with the clear filling and they are HARD to find Matt. Good luck! Mmmmm [IMG]

My wife prefers the cheaper ones. If I get the ones with the clear centers, she is quick to remind me she'd rather have the $0.99 Queen Anne ones from Wal-Mart!

Yeah, oddly, I've tried some of the "high end" ones, and I prefer the Queen Annes to most. A lot of the supposedly better ones choose chocolate that is just too bitter for my tastes.

Thanks guys. You are almost making me want to take a little jaunt to get some of these. I'm trying to get RID of the love handles! [IMG]

    ...slowly raises hand....

I too like the cheaper ones. I prefer the gritty/sugary creme center to the liquid ones with the more bitter chocolate.

Local Candy shop maybe? "Homemade" type stuff like that is always better.

My mom used to make them homemade...the problem was, the insides would start off as a thick paste and you had to wait quite a while before it would turn into liquid.

Unfortunately we never knew exactly how long it took since my brother and I would eat them all before they turned. [IMG] Also, if you didn't seal them up completely, the liquid would start to ooze out....Ah! Those were the good old days, when mom would open the tin, see a bunch of chocolate covered cherries oozing and yell to my brother and I: "Quick! Eat all of these before they make a mess!!!!" One good thing about indulging in too many chocolate covered cherries is they are known for leaving one's system rather quickly [IMG]...so love handles might not be as bad. [IMG]

Via one route or another, indeed...

When I was a child, I over-indulged myself one Christmas Eve, and I awoke around 3:00 AM, not to Santa, but rather to a bed full of upchucked CCCs. To say it was messy is a wee bit of an understatement.

It was several years before I could bring myself to try them again, but time heals all (well, most), and I have two packages of Cella's (cheapo, but excellent, CLEAR CENTERS...yum!) in my cupboard at this very moment.

Cella's!!!!! Thank you!!! I've been killing myself trying to figure out what the name of those were. I gave up and thought that I was just thinking of Russell Stovers, but Cella's! Yes! Those are the quintessential CCC.
