The last two of Jeanette MacDonald's MGM musicals are up for pre-order at Movies Unlimited as exclusives. The Cat and the Fiddle and The Merry Widow were both pre-Nelson Eddy but had many winning moments including some technicolor in one...direction by Ernst Lubitsch and two well known male leads Chevalier in Widow and Ramon Novarro in Cat/Fiddle.

The Merry Widow is a truly lavish production; the movie wasn't popular in its day, and MGM lost a packet of money on it, but it has certainly stood the test of time.
I saw The Cat and the Fiddle long ago, but I have almost no memory of it. Will be glad to eventually add both to my collection.

I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a nice restored KNICKERBOCKER HOLIDAY.

What has happened to the lavish Technicolored 1952 version of "THE MERRY WIDOW" with Lana Turner? It's well overdue for a dvd release.
