I live in Fairbanks Alaska so my options for purchasing decent sound equipment are somewhat limited. Right now my current system is-
52" Mitsubishi DLP TV
Toshiba XA1 HD DVD player
Sony STR-DB830 receiver
Motorola DVR/cable box with highdef channels
SIMA HDMI switcher
B&W DM601S2 up front
B&W CC3 center channel
MB Quart QLC200 surround
MB Quart 12" sub
Sony RM-AV2500 touchscreen remote

The next couple months I am getting new B&W 700 series speakers all around, so heres my problem. My receiver is junk. And my only really good option being in Fairbanks is either Yamaha or Denon, but neither of them are good options because they cost so much up here.
Does anyone know what would be a better choice- Onkyo TX-SR674 or the Marantz SR4001? Or something else? I know those are available in Anchorage but I've been kind of out of the sound upgrading game for a while, all I really need is good HDMI switching receiver for under $600 (also XM radio is not avaulable up here, so thats why I don't want the 5001). I don't want to spend too much on a receiver if I'm gonna have to upgrade it next year anyways. I just need enough to get by!

PLEASE any input would be so appreciated!!!

I had been lookin a that receiver for a while too, and I might be able to live without the HDMI capability since I already spent $130 on the switcher. So now, is hooking up to the analog 5.1 inputs on the receiver from my HD DVD player the same as going HDMI as far as getting Dolby TrueHD?
