Of course,I would be first in the queue to get a fully restored "Empire "from the original 65mm negs, if one ever sees the light of day , but I won't hold my breath.
If we had some more feedback about these releases we would at least know how we are to manage in the meanwhile.

I just bought the Japanese editions of EL CID and 55 DAYS AT PEKING which are the two that interest me the most. They can't look worse than my Korean editions.

I know a lot of consumers would be happy if Miramax / Disney or whomever would state their intentions for the Bronston films, or if they have no plans to release them on R1 DVD, state as much.

How do you rate the colour?

It's too soon.
I paid for the DVD's yesterday so they may not have shipped to the USA yet.
I'll let you know when they get here.

If I like the transfers I'll buy CIRCUS WORLD and FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE.

Barabbas... was on Showtime today, in High Definition.

Was the colour as washed out as the DVD or did it look like a new transfer ?

"Barabbas" looked awfull and it was panned and scaned to fit the 16X9 screen.
Very grainy and washed out!!
"The Egyptian" was shown on INHD2 the same way and also looked juat as awful.
Why are these high def channels showing widescreen films in a pan and scan manner?
