"too much unopened product" yep! I'm so waay behind. Last night I sat down to finally watch Back to the Future II on blu ray and the darn thing skipped. Now it's too late to return. so darn behind!

Watched Pathfinder Unrated that I got a few days ago was wm. Surprisingly enjoyable. I guess I just thought it'd be okay. But it was better than that.

Quick review:
I'd finally picked up Cold Comfort Farm a few weeks back. Watched it last night. Very happy with the DVD transfer. The film looks great! I would have to say that Kate has my favorite face of any actress... I just can't get tired of looking at it. Really.. .my my my, what a lovely girl! She's perfect. The rest of the cast is hilarious. I don't know if I was tired or what, but several lines had me pausing for a bit, getting the joke suddenly and laughing my butt off. the one about the well is maybe my favorite. Fans of British humor (i mean, humour) should waste no time and get this before they run out. $3 is a bargain. I'll be watching this every year or so until I'm dead and gone. Great stuff!

A few quick reviews from the $5 bluray sale at Walmart:

No Country for Old Men. Riveting. an hour and a half had passed before I realized. Can't recommend this enough to people who like crime dramas. Everybody is excellent. Highly recommended.

The Bank Job. Very cool heist film. Has some comedy mixed in but goes very serious in the final 3rd. Be warned! The transfer quality didn't blow me away like it did the guy from dvdbeaver, but it does looks fine. glad I went back for this one. Recommended.

See No Evil. Shows potential in the last half, but ultimately they didn't develop their Tor Johnson sized killer very well in the beginning. I was wishing I'd spent the $5 somewhere else. I remember when I thought this and MASK: The Rise of Leslie Vernon were the same movie. Oops! nope! This is far below it. Not totally terrible, just not that great. Not recommended.

Quick review:
King Boxer: five fingers of death. A new one among my favorites. Very well made... more than just actioin. Great story.. . familiar too since Rocky and Karate Kid came to mind. It isn't just like those, but still they popped in my brain. Can't recommend this one enough to MA fans. Get it while they still got sum! Nice image and "fun" sound.

I watched something weeks back with the Ironclad trailer before the movie. Looked neat! The DVD was in Walmart's $5 bin. Tempted, but passed. Glad I did! Walked in BL and there was 1 copy of it (Blu ray, not DVD) sitting on top of some more expensive blurays. Marked at $3. Snagged! At least if it's not all cracked up to be good I won't be too unhappy, like with some of the ones I got for $5 each from walmart. (looking at YOU Happily Never After and See No Evil. ) I'll review it after watching.

Only other $3 I saw were the 2 I mentioned earlier. They are still hidden behind DVDs. Might be a good idea to check those slots for low flying Blu rays.

I wish there were more $3 blu rays. Did your store have a display or are they just showing up among the DVDs or laying on top of the more expensive blu rays? Would love to see a whole display.

I think I'm going to pick up robin Hood next time i'm in there. My store has some for $6.88. I think I'll like it in spite of the reviews.

Not sure if I mentioned, but my store also has Wolfman Blu for $6.88. I can highly recommend that one in spite of the mediocre reviews. Similar to Mary Shelly's Frankenstein only less over the top. I paid $10 for mine a few Black Friday's back.

We had pizza. Decent film. Worth $3. Did you know they're making a sequel?

The blu's at my BL are just on the usual video/music rack. No special display.

Saw a few new blu titles today: Out of Africa, The Adjustment Bureau, and Sanctum. These are $6.88 each.

I liked it too. Had earmarks of being made in a rush. That shaky cam was as hammy of some of the acting. But well worth $3. Excellent battle scenes, just like it says on the box.

I'm definitely open to a sequel. But only when it's $3 on blu at big lots. lol

I was by there today to get some plastic cups to make some frozen soda for these hots days ahead, they had plenty of Robin Hood 2010 on Blu so I'm holding off. Really want to see that. Probably make a good double with Ironclad.

I enjoyed Wolfman and also recommend it, especially if you're a fan of other wolfman films. It's a nice addition.

I picked up a copy of the new Robin Hood a while back but have yet to watch it. I anticipate liking the film but I like just about any film about the character. Hmmm.... I'm participating in a "Historical Appreciation" film challenge on another site. I wonder if this one qualifies? I need to check...

And *nothing* new here in several weeks! It's the longest dry spell in a while but that doesn't seem to stop me from looking and actually finding a title or two I've overlooked or forgotten every few times I stop in.

From what I heard I don't think that Robin qualifies as Robin Hood.

Gotta replace my little cups with something better. I try to scrape the frozen soda and it ends up just spinning around! My mini-pin Kayla doesn't know what to make of my strugglings. She just waits for pieces to fall so she can grab em! lol

the new movies are so slim at BL I'm talkin about the cups i got there. :p

I love what they did with Wolfman with the scenes on the tops of buildings. I found that exhilarating. If they could have done similar in the Universal Monster years they would have.

Just got back from a BL trip. There were a *few* new DVDs, all TVonDVD at $10 per set:

Family Guy - V1, V2
Angel - S1
My Name is Earl - S1
Boston Legal - S1Saving Grace - S1

All of these are in the newer "slim" keepcase packaging. That's the type where there are pages inside a standard size keepcase. This is the kind of packaging I've been wanting since I started purchasing DVDs. Of course the manufacturers *finally* start to do this after I've purchased all the titles being repackaged this way...

Quick Review: Resident Evil Extinction. Third and final in the series, or so I was thinking. lol nobody told me they did so many of these already? Where have I been? I was thinking maybe 4 movies total but it's 5 and #6 is probably almost ready. I would have thought after this one a collective "well, this series was okay but now it's done and I'm relieved" and all that as Milla goes off to do something different. To be fair, this was like a good b-movie at the start (needs the American International Pictures logo really really bad) but quickly goes slightly tedious but watchable. I'd say the little I paid was worth the view. This is one of the ones a cashier at BL gave to me for minimal since it was unmarked. Niiiice! Not worth the $5 I think it was supposed to cost. Worth the $1.88 I probably got it for. If they reboot this whole thing I'll miss Milla since she is really the best thing about these by a far far away galaxy! And I was thinking while watching it, does Milla spend all the money and suddenly regret doing these films for most of her career? She was doing so many interesting things early on. I loved her in Fifth Element and Messenger. She nearly pulled off Fourth Kind. she's a beauty to watch *heavy breathing* ...oops, sorry.

The RE films make crazy amounts of money worldwide. Part 4 made nearly $300 million worldwide, Part 5 over $240 million. The five films combined have so far made over $900 million.

I'd imagine they'll keep throwing money at Jovovich and keep making new films as long as there is profit to be had.

I actually meant to look at the "cost to make"/"amount they made" ratio on the movie and forgot. I think you're right about that. Can't blame her I guess. But what will she be remembered for? Kind of like Eddie Murphy doing Dream Girls after a loooong string of silly comedies.

Quick Review of BL purchase: Jinxed. Bette Midler/Rip Torn. I had a Rhinestone flashback at the start. That was scary. Midler is singing a horrible country song in a casino while everybody acts like it's the greatest thing. I told myself to hunker down, this could be rough. After the song ended (yes, it DOES end don't worry) I get the soap opera, chick flick vibes flowing around. Then it settles into one of those likable comedies of the 70s and eventually a touch of dark. We see rip Torn. We see too much of Rip's body. That was uncomfortable. Poor Rip. I didn't want to see those parts of him ever and it will haunting, I tell ya, it will HAUNT! But you put up with stuff to make a movie worth watching. Weird thing is, Rip had either just done or was going to be doing Beastmaster. So I was picturing him sacrificing Midler to the Gods. ... There are funnier movies like this, but it was worth the $3 to see it. Just don't expect a whole lot (well, besides Torn's various body parts) and have a like for these funky 70s and 80s comedies. I bet you'll have a way better time than you had in Rhinestone! Well...not much of a compliment there...
