For Clay's list

Best
Rear Window
Toy Story: Ultimate Toy Box - barely beating out The Iron Giant
Big Lebowski - Personal favorite of mine. But then again, that's just, like, my opinion, man.

Worst (this was a bit hard as you have a nicely solid collection)
Phone Booth - I thought it was a good concept that was damaged through a thoroughly disappointing justification for the entire proceedings. Check out Liberty Stands Still for an alternate take on this.
Hard Target - I just can't see getting this unless you're a Woo completist. I couldn't bear adding it myself.
Parasite Eve - This is the live-action version, right? I was quite disappointed, although their attempt to add the more over the top special effects was a worthy effort.
(Almost added Me, Myself, and Irene as I thought it was a very subpar effort from the Farrellys)

Adds
The Two Towers - To go alongside your FOTR
Die Hard: Five Star - To round out your action collection
Dead Alive - Works well as a companion piece to Evil Dead 2 and The Frighteners in terms of tone.

Here are My DVDs

OK, I got it now. I'm supposed to give Alex three DVDs that HE needs. Not three from his collection that IIIIIIIIiiiiiiiiiiiIIII neeed! :D

OK then. Alex needs to get....

Starship Troopers - He owns Total Recall, Basic Instinct and Robocop...but no Troopers? C'monnnn.

And with all those Carpenters...man... go get The Fog. Solid SE for like 12 bucks, hombre!

...and how have you been able to NOT buy that The Fly / The Fly 2 double feature? Just to have until Cronenberg's SE finally shows up!

But overall you have a great collection. You and I dig a lot of the same schtuff, Spindlo.

Double-dipping!

For Scott:

Blechs:

Armageddon - Criterion - Good package, really bad movie
Blair Witch - I could't sell this one quick enough
The Others - Another one I sold right away

a matter of fact, I owned all those at one time.

Cheers:

(naming a few different ones than usual in this thread)

Animal House - rolling on the floor funny still after many viewings.
Miller's Crossing - Great start on the Cohen's
Dr. Strangelove - Another classic from a great director

Where are they?

Monty Python - Life of Brian - you have the others, where is this one?
X-Men 2 - I thought better than the first which you own.
Citizen Kane - You gotta start with some classics, this is the best place to start.
One Extra - You started with your Cohens, but you gotta get The Big Lebowski as the Dude abides.

Very good collection overall, but truthfully, I'm not the best person to judge since your collection is heavily weighted with horror.

Here's mine if someone else wants a crack at it, again, ignore the childrens' titles. (That Barbie-Repunzel is my daughter's, I swear)

@ Mark klaus

The Goods:
12 Angry Men - I LOVE this movie.. I actually have to get it myself
Cast Away - To me, this has to be the best single actor performance I've seen so far! (I'm talking about Wilson of course ;) )
The Two Towers EE - Need I say more?

The Bads:
Billy Madison - I never really liked Adam Sandler..
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon - All I could think of while watching this movie, was, "What the heck?"..
Dirty Dancing - My sister made me watch that movie until I litteraly got SICK from it so..

The Needs:
Gosh I don't know! So far every title I think of, you have it!

Alias - I think it's really a great show!
Star Trek DS9 - My personal favorite Trek
Dune (SciFi series) - Especially the second series, Children of Dune

Boy.. that was hard! Much easier to pick the good than anything else hehe ;)

(you have to use Cut&Paste if you want to see it as I only have 10 posts, sorry!)

Slight aside, but I have a defense:
I actually own Starship Troopers, but it's on my non-disclosure list as I haven't quite decided what to do with it. Hammer fisted satire is wearing thin, but choice moments in action and special effects make me kinda want to keep it.

And I've been holding out on an SE of The Fly.

You, sir, are quite the psychic.

Regarding The Fog...you had me at Carpenter. Added to my wishlist.

Rolando, thank you. I know I want TNG so bad, just I've already dumped a G in X-files. I got T3 as a gift from a vendor over the holiday, and I liked it a lot. I do already want more Carpenter. I love the religious thrillers, although not many out there huh? I loved the premise of the Prophecy.

If anyone got skipped I will follow Rolando's lead and cover you.

I just realised JasonMA has a collection similar in size to mine... Anyway, here goes!

For JasonMA

Best 3:
Pulp Fiction - Can't argue with Tarantino's best effort!
Back to the Future Trilogy - Classic. In case anyone is wondering why I do not have this title yet, I am waiting for the corrected versions to hit the shelves.
Braveheart - A great Gibson film.

Worst 3:
The Transporter - I just didn't get the film.
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - This was a wasted opportunity given the material.
Once Upon a Time in Mexico - Desperado was better.

Needed:
Indiana Jones Trilogy - Action, adventure, and Harrison Ford at his absolute best! This one is a winner!
Superman: The Movie - I see you like superhero films... Superman: The Movie is one of the all-time greats and the DVD is fantastic!
The Rock: Criterion Collection - Since you have Armageddon, why not try The Rock? Fast-paced action typical of Michael Bay and IMHO his best effort so far.

Ok... my collection here

Interestingly enough, all 3 of the movies you picked as my worst were given to me. I agree with the transporter, it wasn't that great. Once upon a timein Mexico, while not as good as Desperado, is still a kick ass DVD. The extras on that one are awesome, and they make you appreciate the movie more. 10 minute cooking school was cool. And while almost everybody I talk to doesn't like League, I rather enjoyed it. I watched it with my brother and a buddy, and it was one of the first movies that I watched at reference level on my home theater system, and all 3 of us liked it. Well, there are my comments on my worst.

Also, I do have Indiana Jones on my wish list, and I hadn't even thought of Superman. Just added that as well. As for the rock, I haven't even seen it. Will check it out though. Thanks.

For Voon:

Best:
Fight Club
Shakespeare in Love
Amélie

Worst:
Superman 2
Die Hard
Usual Suspects

Not that anything is wrong with the latter 2 movies, there's just no reason to own them when you have the excellent SEs. (Not many bad movies in your collection.)

You need:
Insomnia
The Terminator
Reservoir Dogs

WillK, thanks for the recommendations. I've seen 1, 2, 3, 5 & 6 but don't own the discs yet. What DVD version of Hard Boiled (and the Killer) is recommended? Bear in mind that I don't have enough $$$ for the OOP Criterions!

1) Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis
2) Spirited Away
3) Hard Boiled
4) Joint Security Area
5) Gattaca
6) Animatrix

Robert Anthony, I agree that the discs below are pretty bad (Sphere came free with my DVD player & Superman IV was in the box set). I'm surprised no one mentioned Silent Trigger... easily the worst 'movie' on my shelf.
- Superman IV
- Poison: Greatest Video Hits (did it come with a can of Aqua Net and some acidwash jeans? )
- Sphere (maaan. what they did to this book...)

I already have the Two Towers EE (haven't added the most recent additions to my collection yet).
- The Two Towers Extended Edition.

Excellent recommendation... I like the movie, just haven't picked up the DVD yet.
- The Last Starfighter

Greg_R,
The Winstar releases of both The Killer and Hard Boiled are nothing to scoff at. While they don't replicate the features on the Criterion version, and the picture quality still isn't all that great, it's as good as it will likely get. And they won't break your bank either. Plus, they do have commentaries by Woo so they aren't bare bones.

Check out the Mei Ah version: Reg 0, Anamorphic with DTS. Although, the mono in quite a few respects sounds better than DTS, but that was just my impression. DTS track sounded somewhat contrived and a tad piercing at the higher end. Could just be my gear.

Cheers ..

HKflix is advertising an uncut version of Hard Boiled, only problem is that it is $30.

Scott*F:
Allow me to defend myself :b
I liked SPy Kids and picked up 2 real cheap, haven't watched it yet though
2Fast 2 Furious, I had fun with this movie MST3K style. Not terrible, just goofy.
Goldmember, I've loved all 3 of these.

As for the recommendations:
I have been considering the Criterion Ikiru.
My Dad has Braveheart, so I have that available.
North by Northwest, I've considered a few times, but haven't yet pulled the trigger.
