Just got my new Sony 32HS500... and 715p Progressive scan DVD player... and have been going through the collection to find a few titles/scenes to use as demos.

Suggestions are welcome! What are your favs?

Congrats on the latest additions to your family, Frank! ;)
Only speaking from the perspective of my warped DVD collection, here are my suggestions:
The Alleyway Rumble in Charlie's Angels.
The initial alien altercation in Aliens. "Marines, we are leaving!!" :emoji_thumbsup:
The silly-but-fun space station escape in Armageddon.
The immortal EL train/car chase in The French Connection.
The lobby massacre in The Matrix.
Of course, the pod-race and the Darth Maul battle in The Phantom Menace.
The opening credits to The Untouchables. :D

Ch. 15 of U-571 - Will really show off the strengths (or weaknesses) of your subwoofer.
The Phantom Menace - Pod Race
The Matrix - the shootout scene
Vertical Limit - crappy movie, but the entire disc is demonstration quality.
Moulin Rouge - Looks and sounds great!

The original post is asking for video demo material!
I still use The Fifth Element for this purpose. The scene where Leeloo has just escaped and is on the ledge of the building. Incredible video quality, with great details and color fidelity! :emoji_thumbsup:

Good call, Rob, my bad. Well, in that case I agree with The Fifth Element (I have the Superbits edition - it rocks!). Any of the Superbits discs are excellent, especially Crouching Tiger and Dracula. Moulin Rouge, Vertical Limit, and Cast Away all look gorgeous, and for B&W, I'd recommend Casablanca, Kane, and The Criterion Rebecca for outstanding video quality. JH

Yes, looking for VIDEO, thanks.

I completely agree with Citizen Kane as an astounding example of high quality video, with beautiful full scale black and white images. Very clean transfer!
I would also strongly recommend Pearl Harbor as an example of superb video quality. The movie leaves a lot to be desired, but the video truly is top notch!

Many sequences in The Thin Red Line look absolutely stunning. Seven also has superb video quality, but may be a little gruesome for demonstration purposes. Criterion's The Rock has one of the best transfers I've seen, with vibrant colour and amazing detail.

I second (third) Frank and Rob's suggestions of Shrek and The Fifth Element and would add Toy Story 2, A Bug's Life, Tarzan and Atlantis: The Lost Empire.

I find I show the start of Toy Story 2 the most, and of course the Pod Race and Darth Maul scene, just not as often.
