Best: Mallrats, Clerks: The Animated Series, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Ghostbusters, Kentucky Fried Movie, the Q&A sessions on the Back to the Future films

Best Text Commentary: The Abyss and T2: EE

Worst Commentary: I haven't listened to any commentary so far that was truly God-awful but Star Trek: Nemesis and, to a lesser extent, Top Secret! have disappointed

I'm only disappointed with Top Secret!'s commentary because the commentaries for The Naked Gun films and the aforementioned Kentucky Fried Movie were so hilarious; the ZAZ team needs someone like John Landis or Robert K. Weiss to play off of

Best academic/scholarly ones: Stephen Prince on Red Beard and Straw Dogs, both All About Eve commentaries (full of juicy gossip - perfect for the film!)

I really liked the Pulp Fiction SE text commentary. Full of little bits of trivia and useful facts about the film, continuity actors and Tarantino.

What about the text commentaries by Micheal Okuda on all the Star Trek Special Editions? I think they are fantastic.

Third vote for:

Also author, Mark Bowden and screenwriter, Ken Nolan commentary on BHD as well (Nolan does a pretty good Ridley Scott imitation :)).

Lastly, if you haven't already you owe it to yourself to listen to the Larry the Cucumber & Mr. Lunt commentary to "Jonah - A Veggietales Movie." Hillarious moments dealing with George Lucas' underpants; the origin of hushpuppies; Whales that eat Krispy Kremes, etc.

I have always been a fan of the Frank Oz commentaries...a good mix of cast stories and technical details. Seems very well put together.

The Score and Little Shop of Horrors come to mind.

I have little time so I will give just a few for now...

Funniest commentary: it's a tie...Cannibal The Musical / C.H.U.D.

Most interesting commentary: another tie...Apollo 13(The Lovell's commentary is as heartfelt as they come.) / Seven Samurai (although it is one of the earlier LD commentaries recorded (1988) & it borders on fan boyish gushing, it still stands out as a favorite because it has a wealth of fascinating info on not only Kurosawa and the film itself but also a background of Japanese culture to help a westerner better understand the subtext of the film)

The most informative: Kevin Costner & Jim Wilson in Dances With Wolves.

The funniest: This Is Spinal Tap with the actors still in character 20 years later. A close second would be the commentary for Used Cars. The guys on this commentary are really having fun.

The biggest waste of time: Barbra Streisand for What's Up Doc?.

Agreed. This one is bloody hilarious...

I've been listening to a few commentaries lately and some other good ones are:
- Insomnia (in shooting order!)
- Swordfish
- Old School
- X-men 1.5
- Bound

Unfortunately, and I hate to say it because its one of my favourite films, but the commentary for Memento pretty much sucked. I had to force myself through that one.
