After reading post after post about the joy of upgrading to separates, I've decided to make the upgrade myself. From a general standpoint, what do YOU think is the best 2ch amp available for around $1000.

I've currently got Studio 60's with a 3802, but I want the punch I'm not getting (I know it's there). If anyone has any experience with particular amps for similar setups, I'd appreciate the advice. Other than that, please post away with your favorite 2ch amps.

I don't own it, but I'm getting close - try the QSC PLX3402 pro amp, which, although it lists at $1,649 or something like that, can be had for $1,000 or so. 700 watts a side is nothing to snicker at and it only weighs 21 lbs!

used Bryston 4B-SST (or 4B-ST). can be had on Audiogon.com for around $1000 and it is a fantastic amp. i've never owned one, but i've demo'd it a few times and it is simply amazing! i'm trying to get a 3B-ST for myself :)

Denon and Rotel work pretty well together. Maybe a RB-1080 (200 w/channel) would do the trick. I think they sell for around $950.

I have a Denon 2800 and Studio 60'. Tried the Rotel 5x120 and saw no great change. Then I purchased the parasound HCA2205 5x220 and there was a huge difference in the sound. Like a vale was pulled off the music. There is a 2 channel version of the same amp. I just bought a pair of Rogue Magnum M-120's that I love, but side by side comparison, the Parasound gives you 90% of the sound for less than half the cost. I love the parasound so much that I hate to sell it - it is still sitting between my two M-120's. Maybe one day I'll use it in the upstairs system!
