    Hello,

Been looking at getting the Samsung BD-P1400 as my first blu ray player, I have a couple of questions that I need help with. Does anyone know if the BD-P1400 outputs at 1080p/60 as well as 1080p/24? Some people are saying that the 1400 doesn't have the same processor as the 1200 and isn't as good in the video image department, is there any truth to this?

    Thanks in advance,

The BD-P1200 is better for standard DVD, but not Blu-ray based on everything I have read so I would believe the two are relatively equal for Blu-ray. I only own the BD-P1000 and I have no first hand experience with the newer Samsung players.

Ask this question in the BD Hardware Owners area instead, and you might get better response. You can ask a moderator to move the thread.

Yes, the P1400 does both 1080p/60 and 24. I am using 1080P/60 with my Samsung HL-S6188. So far no problems with SD DVDs, they look fine to me, but I am not the best judge.

There is a commonly reported software bug that stops the SD playback randomly. You have to push the play button to continue. Very random problem, may not happen, or may happen several times during a movie. Until Samsung fixes this bug, I am using my Oppo DVD Player for SD and the P1400 for Blu-ray. I spent about $35 for a HDMI switch and a couple short cables. This works fine, but for some reason the black level out of the P1400 is considerably lower than the Oppo, so I have to play a level setting game if I watch a SD DVD. I have been trying to watch only Blu-ray disks for now.
