Nils, could you post a link to those High Roller chips. Those are, as of yet, the sweetest chips I've even seen, IMHO. I love the extreme amount of denominations, and I'd be halfway willing to buy them 100 chips at a time if they are going to be around for a while (since I'm guessing they'll retail for about a buck per). Are they ceramic or clay?

Super sweet.

This looks like the best offer on Ebay for these things. About the smae price as one 1000 chip carrier but instead you get 2 - 600 cases w/ trays.

Like all the cheap chip deals however all these Ebay dealers are nailing you on shipping costs.

So I guess if you have found one that sells for $40 then I would jump on that. How much does that place charge for shipping however.

BTW, I keep posting the girl chips for Hank's sake. Those have bachelor written all over them. As for feel they are Chipco chips, so not pure clay but pretty much considered one of the next best alternatives. But yes samples are always a must, and if the seller doesn;t offer them look elsewhere.

On another note I ordered two new decks of cards to experiment with, both new to the USA.

Fournier 2508 from Spain

AND

Modiano Super (my other's are Modiano Bike Trophy)

Contact Se7enCardStud @ Chip Talk for sample sets.

As far as I know, they still aren't selling full sets yet.

There is a thread on Chip Talk dedicated to these chips:

The High Rollers are Out!

The latest post suggests these only weigh 8 grams, which would keep me from buying. Too bad though, as they look amazing. I also agree with others that the white dot on the sticker (below the spade base, and above "Nevada") is obviously a mistake by who ever made the graphic design. They should own up to it, and replace it with a new sticker for those who might be bothered by a small defect like that.

Even with the dot, if these were 10g and the price was right, I'd replace my current set with them in a heart beat!

Both of those look great. So of all the decks you've played with so far, how would you rank them and how much do each of them cost?

My favorites are still Modiano's, easily.

I kind of like the back design of the new Super set over the Bike Trophy's. However the Bike Trophies come in individual packs where are the Super's come in a crummy double box that isn't very well (little better than the Dal Negro's case however).

Otherwise it looks like the two Modiano sets are very similar, although according to Home Poker Tourney he says the Super's are .1 mm wider than the Bike Trophies.

Dal Negro's are pretty nice, but their colors fade quickly, just ask Steve. It is also a highly reported occurrence on the poker forums, Modiano's have had no such complaint filed yet.

With fading in mind, I would have to rank the Fournier's second behind Modiano's, although no one has owned a deck long enough yet to know if the Fournier's are susceptible to fading as well. The Fournier's are really nice card's that aren't quite as thick and papery feeling as Dal Negro's or Modiano's, but they are higher than Kem's, Gemaco's, and Copag's. The Fournier's also come in the nicest case. They are single deck clear hard plastic cases.

So Dal Negro's would rank third for me.

I also like all of these three brands because they are 4 pip designs as well.

Here is a basic price breakdown per deck:
Modiano's $7.50
Fournier's $13 (although on introductory sale for $10)
Kem's $13-15
Copag's $7.50
Dal Negro's $8-9
Gemaco's $12

POKER GAME TOMORROW (FRIDAY) NIGHT

I'm playing bachelor for the weekend so I thought a last minute game of poker would be just what the doctor ordered.

If you are interested, let me know by calling me, or posting here.

Hey, Nils. I'll check w/ Tam to see if we have any scheduled (pronounced the British way...with a shhhh) tomorrow. She's in Houston right now with the kiddos, but she'll be back tomorrow. I never know what we're doing in advance, but I think I'm free if you can dig up another 5 or 6 guys. I'll get back to you here or on the phone manana.

 Bad news. Me and my three buy-ins aren't going to be able to make it. A previous engagement is unavoidable. Have a good time, boys. Don't forget to give us a break-down of the action...

I hate to toot my own horn, but usually have to. I was the big winner. It's so nice when that happens, 'cause it's pure luck. I wasted poor Greg, as he kept coming back for more punishment - he now has a poker moniker: "Death Wish". Turning $10 into $40 is sweet. Maybe I should quit my day job.
Or not.
Hey, check out today's woot - $599.99 with a $100 rebate on top of that, for a Hitachi EDP J32 WVGA 854 x 480 3-panel LCD projector. Introduced last November at $1499 MSRP. Selling on-line (B&H Photo) for $999. http://www.woot.com Would be a good, budget entry-level HT projector.

You know I just look at it as making my donation directly to Social Security when Hank takes my money.;)

It was very nice to see the guys again. I'm changing up my casa so hopefully after June 1st I'll host us a nice poker/ movie event. Hank might be getting low on my cash by then.

Just a heads up for you poker HTFers. I'm going to have a $50 tourney at my house this Saturday (the 22nd). It will start at 2:00 and have slower blinds (30 minutes instead of 15 or 20), so it should go for a while (put in a dinner break if that helps ya).

Anyway, I sent out an e-vite, but I'm not sure if I have all the HTFers or if everyone has the same email (I think yours may still be full, Nils).

Sorry Steve, but $50 was a little rich for my blood. $25 is about the max for me. Otherwise I would have signed up.

Anybody got any poker goings-on this coming weekend?

Head's up alert! In a week or two, Wild Card from Dallas will come for a visit and I'll host a fajita/poker night! Wild Card will have war stories of his experiences at his new employer, WOOT.COM.
I'll post a date when I determine Russ' visit weekend. C'mon over, Death Wish! ;-)

BTW, please consider attending my concert tonight: http://www.asband.org
