I don't know if Ron Howard ever directed any of the episodes, but if there's anyone I'd trust with doing the movie it's him. I am sooooo looking forward to this.

Yeah, Ron Howard didn't direct any of the episodes. I don't know if it was common knowledge (or even if it's accurate) but before this story, I hadn't heard that he was directing the movie either.
