but at 120db brass monkey at 3 feet dual 15 with 1000 wats
Did you listen to the whole song? I hope you had earplugs on because I felt ear damage with only 110db of constant SPL from my sub and mains. At about 115db, the sound goes through the walls of my house so anyone outside can hear the vocals.

Do you have mains that can level match the subs @ 120db without sounding compressed? I think my system started sounding distorted at about 100db.

Nope - But it does have a dent now! Note to self: don't drop screwdriver in middle of brand new expensive woofer!
How many decibles did you hit when you screamed with fright and will you be able to show us a graph of any house curves you may have plotted.

:D

All I want to know is, can we apply a few parametric EQ's to it :D

(sorry to hear the horrible news:frowning: )

Hi Guys,

Looks like although the AV15's have new nice cones, the dustcaps were the same batch as the 12's. This whole AV woofer deal has turned out to be a nightmare for me. In an case, TC has said they will rebuild any drivers that have the cosmetic damage. I will pay to return the woofers to TC, then they will be rebuilt, and TC will send them back directly to you.

If you want your woofers replaced, please send me an email. I will get to all emails as soon as possible. I am very backed up now, so it may take me a few days to get to everyone. I plan to start catching up on email this weekend though.

FYI, here is the basic correction table for the RS meter. Unfortunately it doesn't show detail below 20Hz. You can assume that you add at least the 6.2dB that you do for 20Hz.

20HZ =6.2DB
25HZ =4.4DB
31.5HZ =3DB
40HZ =2DB
50 =1.3DB
63HZ =.8DB
80 HZ =.5DB
100HZ =.3DB
125HZ =.2DB
160 =.1DB
200HZ to 1250HZ Flat
1600HZ = .1DB
2000HZ =.2DB
2500HZ =.3DB
3150HZ =.5DB
4KHZ =.8DB
5KHZ =1.3DB
6.3KHZ =2DB
8KHZ =3DB
10KHZ =4.4DB
12.5KHZ =6.2DB
16KHZ =8.5DB 20KHZ =11.2DB

Another thing you can do is go to Eric Wallin's website, and do the mods to the RS SPL meter to get a flat response.

John,

I just wanted to check and make sure that you got my AV15 shipped out last week. Call or email me if you want.

John - I appreciate all of your work on this! My AV-15 sounds incredible. My concern now is that my AV-15 may want another sibling to play with and that you may not continue stocking the line. Do you plan to keep going with the AV series or look for other opportunities?

BTW, while my AV-15 had a couple of scratches, I never planned on sending it back. Now that it has a #2 phillips head screwdriver dent in the cone, I'm definitely keeping it!!!

Thanks again!

Jeff

John,
Do you know how long the whole process of sending the AV15 back, and getting a new one would take?

John:

How's my 5 c.f. AV-15 sub (with the two 18" PRs, with clear oak veneering) coming along? I (for one) am not going to be concerned about any "cosmetic" problems with the driver. It's facing downward, so what's to see anyway? :rolleyes:

Kyle Richardson had told me
htf_images_smilies_chatter.gif
it was going to ship last Friday, but I guess such was not the case.

Also, please let me know how the driver will be wired, as I need it to be at least a 4 ohm load to run it off either my pro amp (not stable for 2 ohm load) or alternately a Rythmic Audio 380W plate amp.

Thanks,

Jeffrey Stanton
