Splash (1984) was a bigger hit (adjusted for inflation) than all the American Pie films and his part in that film was substantially bigger. My favorite role of his. :tu:

Fair enough but his role in splash may have had more screen time but Jim's Dad is more iconic and memorable. Thus, a breakout role. I had forgotten he was in Splash. Was he the villain trying to prove Mermaids exist?

Not really a villain but more of an "enthusiastic" character who redeems himself in the end. As to which role is more memorable, Splash always comes to my mind when I hear his name but I guess younger audiences of today may recognize him more from the "pie" films. Too bad.
